Comments about REI Passage 40 Pack - Kids':
I bought both of my boys, ages 9 and 6 1/2, this day pack for Christmas and it fits both of them really well. They love this pack. My 9 year old is average size and my 6 1/2 year old is small for his age but the pack works well for both of them. We have taken a few hikes using the packs and we are pleased with the quality. A great buy for your kids!

Bought this pack for my daughter when she was 6. Two years later when buying my son his first pack I am buying it again for him. After multiple trips my daughter still loves this pack.

Comments about REI Passage 40 Pack - Kids':
Lots of compartments from big to tiny(keeps small things like compass easy to find), very comfy (80lb kid able to carry 25lbs with ease), adjustable height as kid grows, straps very long to allow adding lots of things to outside, great for hiking/very light. Other parents commented on how nice this pack was.

Comments about REI Passage 40 Pack - Kids':
My eight-year old and I used this pack shortly after he got it for Christmas. The sleeping bag compartment was tight for a good winter sleeping bag but once I realized the sleeping bag compartment was easily adjustable (even able to remove the dividing panel) it was a piece of cake. I kept the load as light as I could at 25 pounds and the back pack and the kiddo handled it just fine. Lots of loops and outside pockets made it easy to pack so he could get to the most used items quickly. Easily adjustable for the torso. And after a few times off and on, he was able to adjust his hip belt, shoulder straps and chest strap on his own with ease. It held up really, really well under the conditions, lots of ice, snow and rocks... and we were falling alot. Not one busted stitch. Can't say much after the first trip on durability but I can say I feel good about it holding up after this trip.

Got this pack for my 6 year old daughter. She loves it. It is big enough for her to carry all of her own gear, yet adjust small enough to fit her very small frame. It seems to be made well also. looking forward to passing it down to her little brothers.

At 5 feet tall and 118 pounds, my kids are bigger than I am! After over an hour in the REI store trying on and loading adult packs, we finally started trying on youth sizes. This was the only one large enough to hold what I need for an overnight camp. Highly recommended for petite adults!

Comments about REI Passage 40 Pack - Kids':
Shopped obsesively for the right size pack and I found a winner! My 10 yr old boy is about 54" and this fits him perfect with room to grow. The sleeping bag compartment is a little small, but I did get it in. He uses a shorter womens sleeping bag (he doesn't need the extra length so why carry it?). This bag will go with us alot this season so I will write a follow up next fall. As of now I highly recommend it for a kid between 53" and 63".
