Rated5out of5bySierra SafarifromBest Ever So FarI've only had these boots about 4 months, but so far they have been the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever owned in more than 30 years of backpacking. So far, I've taken a 4-day backpacking trip and many long day hikes during which they provided plenty of support even though they are considered light backpacking boots. They felt so good that after returning from long day-hikes I forgot to change into my "camp shoes" when I got back to our backpacking campsite.

Rated5out of5byT-Mountainfromthe best hiking boot EVER!!!I've seen these boots before. But when I saw that they had been marked down significantly I had to make the purchase. With the inside being lined with Gortex, I couldn't go wrong. Thank You Zamberlan

Rated5out of5byPhillyBCfromIncredible Boots!I bought these boots a month ago because next November, we are going to the the full Torres del Paine circuit in Patagonia. I wanted something with more support than my current, low end boots.
Ahead of my first trip with them, I just wore them to work (desk job) for 3 days. Needless to say, I was a little concerned about blisters, etc. on my trip. I set out to do 38 miles of the AT in northern NJ over 3 days in February on snow covered trails in temperatures from 8-30 F. My pack was ~39lbs with water.
On the very first day, due to a road closed because of Hurricane Sandy, the distance went from 10.5 miles to 16 miles. The boots performed perfectly. In fact, for all 3 days, not only did I not get a blister, there wasn't even a single hot spot! The support was perfect, the traction phenomenal, and the comfort amazing! Even putting them on, frozen solid in the morning, wasn't that bad.
Granted, I have only used low-end boots before, but these performed beyond my expectations. At the sale price, they are a steal.

Rated5out of5bybehavioralsafetyfromGREAT product. On top of Mt kilimanjaroBought Zamberlans after returning a pair of Merino. The Zamberlans broke in well and were comfortable from the start. Wore them to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Bought a second pair, so as to have same type/style for the future. Will wear next year when I attempt Everest Base Camp climb.

Rated4out of5byDuane The BackpackerfromSo far, very goodI used a gift certificate from friends (thanks, Vana & A!) to help buy these as replacements for my beloved Asolo Fugitive GTX boots I've had for too many years. I have to admit, what initially drew me to them is their style. Bright red, studly-looking things they are!
I've just taken them on a shakedown cruise - traversing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand - and they passed with flying colors.
Because Tongariro wilderness has potential for rapidly changing weather and volcanic conditions (there had been an eruption 2 weeks before our trek so part of the trail was closed) I took lots of ballast for this day hike - my full sized backpack with extra clothes, water, food, rain gear, and even my old boots in case the Zamberlans became problematic. From gently rising boardwalk trails at the beginning to Devil's Staircase steps, to sulphur mud, scree, steaming rocks (volcanically heated rocks evaporating the snow that fell the night before), compact snow and even some falling snow these boots didn't falter. The Vibram soles did a good job of maintaining traction in these varied surface conditions. I fell only once, and that was as I traversed a 45-degree slope with new snow over old snow over muddy volcanic clay that had been slipped and slid over by foregoing hikers. I didn't ford any streams but I did have to balance on some wet rocks on one of the slopes and never found myself scrambling for purchase. My feet were never too hot or cold and never got wet, but they were tired after 8 hours of hiking.
It seems, then, that these don't need much of a break-in. I was carrying about 13 kilos on this hike, and usually carry 20-25 kilos during our Sierra hikes so I'll reserve final judgement on ankle support and all-day comfort, but if this 8-hour hike is any indication, these Zamberlans will be just fine, and will provide the one thing missing from my Asolo Fugitives, wet traction.

Rated5out of5byZonna CamperfromBest Backpacking boot you can buyI just love these boots. So you have probably read some of the reviews about being slippery well they are not. Just like any other boot you take your time crossing streams and logs and this boot is no issue. Now as far as support and comfort well look no further this boot not only clean house hands down in both these areas but also leaves your feet happy even after an all day hike. Right out of the box these boots treated my feet like "Happy Feet". Ankle support is fantastic, I found that its better not to tighten these boots too tight at the top so that you have some flexibility, but also allow for the boot to keep your ankles in place. What else can I say this boot has all areas covered for both Backpacking and Hiking. I love the GoreTex Liners great feature as streams are no match for this boot. If you really want the outer to stay more resistant to shedding water just get REI's 'UGG Australia' Water & Stain Repellent for Sheepskin and Suede spray on a couple of light coats, but don't soak the boot. Let it dry for 15 minutes and you are ready for the rain or any other water crossing. The GoreTex liner will ensure water never penetrates the inner of the boot; the spray just ensures that the outer sheds water off faster. Well what are you waiting for go get your own boots :)
