Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Women's:
I absolutely love these "shoes" simply because they feel like you are barely wearing any. I love to go barefoot as often as I can get away with it, so naturally when I tried these out, I was hooked. They really do mimic the barefoot feeling with a bit more protection.
So far I have worn them trail running, hiking, and jogging around my local park.
They work really well for me since the way I naturally run is landing mainly on the ball of my foot. Traditional running shoes tend to toss my foot off to the side due to the thick padding, causing pain and strain in my ankles. So since I've switched to these, no ankle pain. That alone was worth it.
I wouldn't however reccommend these if you have sensitive feet because yes, you do feel quite a bit. If there is a lone rock in the middle of the road and you step on it, you'll feel it.
If you don't walk brefoot often, I have heard that the first few weeks are painful because you are building the muscles to support barefoot walking, instead of relying on the shoe to support your feet.
I however, had no adjustment period. They had a few days of breaking in as most shoes do, (rubber at front of toes and leather strip inside heel area needed a few days to soften up) but other than that I myself have not experienced pain.
The cons I gave for myself were the lack of water resistance, which can be annoying but I wouldn't trade the breathability for a water resistant version, and the lack of traction on wet sloped surfaces. For example: hiking on wet sloped rocks; you have to choose your footing wisely or you may slip.
Overall I give them 5 stars since the small cons are not a big deal to me. I wouldn't change anything about these shoes. They're perfect.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Women's:
I have worn several styles of Vibrams over the last few years and these are the only ones I regret buying. The opening is very small and has no elasticity, making it hard to get them on/off and line up the toes. The heel/ back (just below the tab for pulling them on) is extremely stiff and is still causing blisters after a month.

I am a student massage therapist, and I both study and perform bodywork 5 days a week. I also try to go to yoga twice a week. I have found that these shoes are a lifesaver. They give my toes more space so they don't feel "squished" or pinched when I am in various positions with my body weight at unusual angles. They do NOT offer arch support in the usual sense. But they DO force your feet over time to re-develop the three proper arches on their own. (Yes, your feet really should have 3 different arches.) I have found that this particular model is best suited to indoor use, or very limited outdoor use, especially pavement, and they are fabulous in the water as long as it's not too rocky. This model doesn't have a whole lot of cushion, and while this is a huge bonus when you are inside and really want that nearly barefoot sensation, it's not at all pleasant jogging outdoors. I also have a condition called Murton's toe, where my second toe and other toes tend to be at length, or even a smidge longer than my first big toe. This can get a little uncomfortable as the toes on these shoes taper so that each toe is succesively shorter. But, I did find that after breaking them in a bit, the toes stretched just enough to be comfortable. I had to get a size larger than normal though, and sew the strap about 1/3" shorter so that I didn't slide out of the heel cup. Absolutely worth it in the long run, just be sure to READ the directions on how to break them in properly. Otherwise you are going to really be hurting and regretting what should otherwise be a smart purchase.

I wear the kso to boot camp 4x/week, sticks really well on the gym floor. Tried my Adidas once and my feet slides inside the shoes when i do floor exercises. For me, this is the most versatile shoe on the Fivefingers line. I loved it more than my smartwool classic which i wear around the house and the black kso trek which i wear at work. I can wear the kso indoors or out and on any weather condition (grips the terrain even when wet). It feels so good on my feet and make my feet muscles strong that i barely wear regular shoes anymore. The kso also relieved my left big toe of the pressure that i get from the start of a bunion. Very easy to clean too, wash in the machine then air dry.
In more than a month that i've been using the kso, i can't say any bad thing about it. I even bought another pair today in the same color (agate camo) coz i liked it too much.

I'm not going to lie, I got these because they look cool and REI's return policy provides an easy solution to buyer's remorse. However, I kept them because they are so comfortable. I love being able to feel the ground's textures and temperatures, and my toes are much happier being spread out and not cramped into my old sneakers. I got them sized in-store and was surprised to find that they fit well, despite my oddly large big toe.
The black ones look nice and are subtle enough that I can wear them without attracting a lot of attention, even occasionally to work. I mostly wear them when I bike, walk or run for exercise or errands. I've done a few light hikes on dirt and gravel and found them to be quite nice (except for when rocks get between the toes). I would love to use these on my upcoming backpacking trip, but I worry about the lack of ankle support.
For the first month or so I was impressed by the fact that they didn't smell. Unfortunately, they have recently picked up a not-so-delightful foot aroma that does not go away with washing. I've read that soaking them in water with denture cleaner works, so I'll try that soon.

I've been running in kso's for about 2 years now. My dog decided to make a snack out of my last pair and I tried several other VFF models before buying these. I still love the kso for running on roads. The ground feel, flexibility, and protection offered by these shoes can't be beat when on pavement and grass.
The only reason I've rated these so low is that there is a seam with loose fabric running along the inside of the shoes that has been ripping up my feet. A strategically placed bandaid on each foot has seemed to fix the problem. I don't have these on any other pair of VFFs and don't remember this issue on my last pair of kso's. It may just be this particular pair.
