Rated4out of5byKmcole90fromJust bought these.I just bought these and already love them. I wear the size 40w and I'm a size 8.5/9. It's pretty true size. I have weird pinkey toe and it fits perfect in the toe slot! I can tell they'll take a little getting used to but I already love them!

Rated5out of5byMichLfromjust what i neededThis is my 2nd pair. The 1st are starting to come apart after 3 years of constant use (5 days a week at the gym) and machine washings. Before these shoes I had sciatic and lower back pain almost constantly. This pain limited my physical activity. These shoes (and some targeted hip stretching) have eliminated those problems. It took a few weeks of wearing them for an hour+ a day for my body to strengthen and adjust. Now I often wear them all day just because they are so comfortable. Also, because they are black most people do not even notice them and the people who do notice are just curious. The biggest negatives are my toes get wet when it rains and I had to buy different socks.

After years of buying more and more expensive shoes with more and more support and then more and more expensive orthotics to go inside the expensive shoes, I finally decided to do something radical and go back to basics - VFF KSOs. I had to start slow and build up. There are muscles and tendons I didn't even know I had until I started wearing these. At first I just wore them for a mile on the treadmill two or three times a week. Then I started wearing them all weekend. The first time I did that, I had muscles and tendons that ached (they just hadn't been used in so long they were in shock). Gradually I wore them more and more until I was wearing them full time. Then after a couple of years, I discovered I could go barefoot all day with no discomfort. I hadn't been able to do that since I was in my twenties (I'm now 60). And I can run barefoot, too (hadn't done that since I was a kid). It didn't happen overnight, but finally, my feet don't hurt; my ankles don't hurt; my arches are stronger than ever; my knees don't hurt; and my toes don't hurt.
A note about arches: If you analyze an arch from a physics/architecture standpoint, you realize that the fastest way to destroy an arch is to push UP in the center of it. Hmmm – and what do arch supports do?
A note on hiking: These are fine except in slippery conditions like mud, algae covered rocks, dust covered rocks, snow. Then you'll want more traction.
Buying at REI is great because sizing is tricky. You can take them home and wear them around the house for a day then bring them back for a different size if necessary. If you have long toes, or if your second toe is as long (or longer) than your first, you may prefer a larger size than the VFF sizing chart indicates. My son and I both have long toes and we both wear two sizes larger than the chart says we should. I find it more critical that the toes and forefoot fit well than whether the heel is snug.

Rated4out of5byTom B-Dfrommy daughter likes themMy 9y.o. daughter needed gym shoes for school but doesn't like the structure of "normal" shoes. She spent much of the summer without shoes on at all. I (dad) have been wearing Vibram and other "barefoot" shoes for over a year and encouraged her to try these. She really likes them, but they take practice to get on, and having her toes "gloved" took some getting used to, but she's into them now.

Rated5out of5byRunning KnightfromComfortable and Well-fittingWhen you start to wear them they feel tight and like anyother shoe you need to break them in, Take it easy for a while. Other than that this is a great shoe for running and everyday use, Highly reccomended.

Rated4out of5byGypsy DifromNot bad...just needs a little more gripProduct seems fairly well designed. Sizing was a little big compared to what I typically wear. Used in muddy terrain and shoes cleaned up well in washing machine without signs of wear. Only downfall... very little traction, especially when considered a multisport shoe.
