Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I purchased this bag because our new Looksha 17's don't have day hatches.
This bag has good capacity to stuff a paddling jacket and extras in (bilge pump, paddle float, light, etc.) to keep within easy reach. I stuff my bottled water in the cords lashed on the top. I haven't capsized yet in order to test how waterproof it is, but this bag is certainly splash proof. It attaches securely to the deck rigging of the kayak, preventing "yard sales."
This clearance price is certainly less than the price I paid for it at a kayak shop.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I carry items I want to keep dry when spashed with water such as binocculars, digital camera, sun screen, bug spray, dry towel, glasses, etc. I can unzip the see-through front panel and grab items quickly. Bag stays secure to kayak deck rigging. However, I would not trust submerging the bag and contents in water.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I've been using this deck bag for about a year now and it suits my needs perfectly. While it's done very well in some surf and at least one drenching rain it is NOT waterproof (Duh, there's a zipper!) so anything sensitive like electronic gear or paper maps should be placed in a separate dry bag or zipper lock bag. But it holds everything I need during the day and keeps it organized and at hand. I attach my bilge pump to the lashing straps on one side and my rolled half or full skirt on the other side. Inside is my cell phone, ID, splash jacket, car keys, first aid kit, binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellant, toilet paper, snacks, etc. The top bungee is useful for light items like a sweater. Other light items can be attached to the ladder strips on each side with a light carabiner. Best of all, most of these constant use items stay in the bag at home so everything is ready to go. I even attach my paddling gloves and paddle leash to the top bungee at the end of the day so I know where they are the next time out. The front is reflective and I attached a light there - it can be seen a looong way. I did experience a tear (actually a release of the glue)on one of the side ladder strips, mostly because I had been using the top bungee to carry the bag. My fault, too much weight for that. A little waterproof glue fixed the problem as good as new and I added a short nylon strap to the front D-rings and use that to carry it now.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I used this deck bag for the first time yesterday. It is very bulky and not water proof. The zipper closure is not completely secure. I fit the paddle float in the bag which is not a good idea. It should be on the deck for easy access. The pump didn't even fit. I will take it back.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
When we bought our recreational kayaks 5 yrs ago, I purchased a couple of deck bags, including this one. It has been awesome! We store lunch, extra layers of clothes, etc. I wouldn't trust it to keep everything perfectly dry (eg digital camera), but it certainly can keep the dry box that holds the camera.
My husband did get rid of the plastic shaping piece because he found it more troublesome than helpful (ours came bent, so blocked the opening). The bag keeps it shape well enough, without it (tho occasionally it is smashed down and you can't quickly find what you want without looking).
The few times I'm stuck on a rental/someone else's kayak, I really miss this deck bag! It is so useful to keep items at hand, and mostly dry. Highly recommend having a deck bag.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I purchased this bag to house some rather pricey camera equipment I use while kayaking. The bag has been a disappointment on nearly every front. The seam welds are hit or miss, a friend who bought the same bag had a strap come of in his hand right out of the package due to a failed welded seam. The zipper began to corrode immediately, despite due care in rinsing the salt water off, (which shouldn't really be necessary on equipment designed to be used in liquid environs, right?) and after literally two uses, the zipper failed completely. I managed to get the zipper back on track and use the bag a few more times, having to run the zipper back and forth until it caught and closed somewhat, which in hindsight was not a good idea considering the value of the equipment I was hoping to protect. It is an inexpensive item and I should have known it wouldn't be all I was hoping for, but it's complete failure almost right out of the box was a huge disappointment. I am tossing this bag and would never recommend its use, even for lip balm and energy bars.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
Even though the zipper broke after one year of moderate use (3 times/month), I still like this bag. I use it on an ocean kayak modified for lake fishing.
It holds two small tackle/lure boxes, maps, mp3 player, portable speakers, wallet and keys, small bottles of sunscreen, bug juice, and a few small tools.
The side straps hold a broom stick with my dept/fish finder attached and, on the other side, a light pole when not in use. The top bungees are great for water bottles, speakers, etc.
The window makes it easy to find the small stuff and the reflector on the front can be seen from a long way off.
If it wasn't for the zipper breaking I would give it *****. I never expected waterproof so I still find it quite handy.
I just have to say about an earlier comment... "It is very bulky and not water proof." "The pump didn't even fit." Specs is short for specifications. There you will find the bag's dimensions. If you don't know the difference between waterproof and splashproof perhaps you shouldn't be shopping on-line.

Comments about Seattle Sports Deluxe Deck Bag - Special Buy:
I took it out on a choppy day and although my kayak took in a lot of water, all the contents managed to stay dry. This is definitely not waterproof, but it is splash-proof. I store small things like first aid kit, food and maybe a light jacket in this.
The straps do make it useful to strap extra things onto the bag, but since the plastic board that provides structure to the bag is so flimsy that any heavy strapped to the top would probably deform the bag.

Sadly this deck bag broke after only 4 months with the elastic cord on top breaking loose and almost losing my rain jacket while kayaking
