by fromThey Changed My Favorite Shirts! I loved the predecessors to these shirts. I own 7 long and short sleeve versions with the single stitched seam along the shoulder and side. My wife saw a new color and thought I would like it for valentines day but after trying it on, I discovered that somethings were different. The fit of these new shirts with double stitched seams on the shoulder & side has changed. They are tighter through the torso, longer, & the extra seam connecting to the sleeve creates an unattractive ridge. I hope that someone from REI with some authority sees this and retools the OXT shirt line.

by fromARGH! I agree with Casual Enthusiast. I LOVED this shirt. Just brought home the new version. ARGH!!! The previous design wasn't broken; why did REI feel like they had to go and try to fix it?!? It's a completely different shirt. Yes, it's probably very well designed for sports/working out. It used to be a great, casual shirt that I could work out in, hike/backpack in, hang out in front of the TV in. Now it's too uncomfortably tight for anything but working out and then changing into something more comfortable for everything/anything else.

by fromNot the Same Shirt. REI has indeed changed this shirt from last year, and I don't like the new version as much. The fit is narrower in the shoulders, and worse, the shoulder seams are no longer flat. Instead, they "stand up" on your shoulders. I'm not sure why REI would change a great shirt this way. Overall, this is still a decent workout shirt. It wicks moisture effectively. However, given the combination of price, fit and finish, I no longer think the OXT t-shirt stacks up very well against better tailored competition from Columbia and others.

by fromWhat happened? This used to be the perfect shirt. And I mean perfect. Perfect for me, perfect for what I did. I'm glad I bought a bunch of them because the new one is NOTHING like the old one. The fit is not right, the stitching is not right, and they appear to have changed the intention for this shirt by changing the fit. What happened? Why do this? Please, please, PLEASE bring back the original and release this new version as something else.

by fromA change for the worse I used to love the old OXT shirt and when I brought the new version it seemed to be an improvement. I find the fit is a bit better and I like that there's no tag inside the collar. Unfortunately, I then made a very tragic mistake: I went for a 10 mile run in this shirt. Simply put, this shirt is terrible for running. You might as well run in a cotton t-shirt. At first I thought it was because the weather had recently warmed up but after several runs I became convinced it was the shirt. I actually went so far as to conduct a little experiment by doing back-to-back 1 hour runs and weighing this shirt and the old shirt immediately after I finished each run. Sure enough in each of the 5 test runs the new shirt weighed more meaning it retained more sweat. Not good! I looked inside and noticed they change the fabric blend from 100% polyester to a 92% poly/8% spandex blend. You wouldn't think 8% spandex could so badly alter the fabric but apparently it does. The folks at Gear & Apparel in Kent took a big step backwards with this shirt. I hope they see the feedback and made some appropriate changes. The OXT line has until now been a great value but for now at least I'll be switching brands and returning this shirt.

by fromNew OXT = Bad . Someone at REI should loose their job for messing up this popular shirt so Bad ! If you were a size LG in the Original OXT....the new LG is almost Skin tight, and cut way different ??? It shouldn't even be called the OXT.... They should of gave it a whole new name...It's a totally different shirt. Bring back the OG OXT for all the OG fans !

by fromREI Ruined a Great Product I am kicking myself for not buying a box of the predecessor to this shirt while they were on the market. The old version was wonderful - wore like iron, warm in winter, cool in summer. Something about the way the 100% poly fabric was spun made it softer than silk - yet a day in the kayak or hiking or biking showed just how fast they used to dry. REI messed with a good product, and they ruined it. The changed fabric blend makes the shirt hold water as much as cotton does! The fit has changed, the seam is now in awkward place. I'm looking for another brand now. Oh, REI - WHY'D YOU DO IT???

by fromThey ruined my shirt! I have 7 of the old-style OXT and wear them almost exclusively. They're absolutely my favorite article of clothing, ever. As they're starting to wear out (after many years of faithful service) I made the mistake of buying some of these new OXTs. I tried hard to like them but have given up. They're TERRIBLE. The fit is completely wrong. If REI ever reintroduces the old style I will happily buy 10. As it is, these are going in the trash.
