Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
One corner of the pad never fully inflated even after manually blowing it up. I took it back and bought the Therm-A-Rest 2.5in self-inflatng camp pad instead. The Therm-A-Rest is better quality and packs smaller.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
Finally upgraded from my 20+ year old Thermarest...a dire necessity now that I'm approaching 50 years old! Tried it on the living room floor, kayaking camping in 2 weeks so it will get a real test on an island in the Gulf of Mexico. Will fit perfectly in my Current Designs kayak.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
I used this sleeping pad in Guatemala at the end of January for 3 nights. My bed was a thin board, but I was very comfortable with this pad on top of the board. I sleep on my side, and I had no problems doing that. I let it inflate for about 15 minutes, added 2-3 breaths, and locked the valve. I didn't have to adjust it at all during those 3 nights - impressive! To fit it in my suitcase, I did have to fold/roll it differently than the way it came - so it was somewhat bulky. But I slept as well on it as I do on my own mattress at home. Thank you REI!

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
I bought 2 of these for hubby and me a couple of years ago after reading all the great reviews. I loved them when we first used them. We only camp about 10 nights a year - combination of family and scout camping. I am a side sleeper and they were comfortable and just what I needed to continue camping into middle age. Having said that, I was very disappointed when they both developed leaks. I thought we'd just find the leak and patch them. So we filled the tub with water to find the leak. Unfortunately, what we found was small pin-hole leaks all along one side of each mattress. Not at the seam, but about an inch away and all down the side. There were a hundred or more! I feel we had really taken good care of them - stored them flat with the valves open under our bed. Sadly, when we took them back to the store we were told REI would not stand behind them because we had had them too long.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
This is a great pad but I've had very serious leak problems. First, multiple leaks around the valve. I tried sealing them with Liquid Nails clear seal all-purpose sealant which has worked well for me on other pads, but because of the nap, air would escape around the edges of the glue. I solved this problem by diluting the glue with paint thinner into a slurry and brushing it on, using three coats just to be safe. This worked — except then it developed a multitude of leaks at the other end of the pad, which I solved the same way. Then my wife's pad which I bought the same time started leaking all along the bottom edge. I sealed it again. I'm waiting for the next leak.
These of the been used only in the back of our pickup camper on a soft rug. Obviously the pad itself is very poorly made. But when it doesn't leak it's great!
Unfortunately like most REI products I have bought going back to the 1970s, the price is right but you get what you pay for. I don't know why I don't buy namebrand items. Dumb I guess.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
This is a pretty comfortable pad. Easy to inflate, just roll it out and let it self-inflate, then add a few more breaths to firm it up. It is pretty large rolled up, and will not fit inside my pack. You could strap it to the outside of your pack. It is also heavy, but durable. I used it during September, car camping, and it was fine for that purpose. Although I was on a slight incline and kept sliding off the pad, but that was more my fault. This will be my car camping pad, but I purchased a Big Agnes pad to replace it for backpacking.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
I have used this pad one time and loved the way it functioned. It inflated very well on its own and provided a great level of comfort on some pretty rough terrain! I love the width of this pad as opposed to the more compact and portable sizes

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
This is a fantastic camp pad. I used it nightly for six weeks, and it was very warm, and I had excellent rest the entire time. I sleep on my side and stomach, so having this to sleep on was heavenly, because it wasn't specifically designed for back-sleepers. I highly recommend it.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
This is perfect pad for base camp / car camping use.
I have a bad back and last thing I want after a long day of hike is sleeping on a pad with poor support. I used it for Mt Whitney day hike. It really help me rest / recover after a long day of hike. I'd highly recommend XL size for tall / big folks.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad:
We had used air mattresses for years and just had too many problems. For once, we were comfortable, did not sink to the middle, and we stayed warm. We did not have to put a blanket underneath and we stayed much warmer than a traditional air mattress. The night time temperature was under 40 F and we just loved these. We put two side by side and they stayed in place. We should have spent the money long ago versus what we had been doing.
