Comments about Big Agnes Iron Mountain Sleeping Pad - Long - Special Buy:
this pad is great in a backpack. it has a small footprint in the pack and is lighter than almost any self inflating pad. it is comfortable to sleep on, but you tend to slip a bit on it. not as bad as some pads, but it does slip a bit. the downside is you have to blow it up completely by lung power. at elevation, it was a bit of a challenge, though i am out of shape. someone in better shape would not find this too difficult.
i did notice some airloss in the morning, but it may have been due to the cold.

Comments about Big Agnes Iron Mountain Sleeping Pad - Long - Special Buy:
I use this for backpacking trips, it is great! It packs fairly small, but the comfort level is HUGE! I slept on it all night, and my hips never even touched the ground - at almost 200 lbs, that isa first for me.
Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that it is pretty hard to inflate. Takes a lot of lung power!

Comments about Big Agnes Iron Mountain Sleeping Pad - Long - Special Buy:
I love this thing, sometimes more than my own bed. It takes about 3-5 minutes to inflate, but it's worth it. With this pad, I can sleep on my side without my hip touching the ground (unlike my performance series Thermarest self-inflating pad).
Fits nicely in my BA sleeping bag (also a long), but I would use it with other sleeping bags, or a liner or a sheet in a warmer climate.
I have also purchased one for my brother and one for my friend.
I denied it a 5/5 rating only because it doesn't inflate itself.

Comments about Big Agnes Iron Mountain Sleeping Pad - Long - Special Buy:
Used this on the AT and couldn't have been happier. Extended use and just an excellent pad. I slept great thanks to this cushiony pad. Small issues: Inflating the pad after extended mileage days a bore and a little tiring/bothersome. Deflating the pad noisy when leaving shelters at 0500. Tip - Point valve away when deflating to ensure condensation drains out of pad and not on you. Buying another for my back-up gear when friends come out to visit.

Used this during my solo through paddle of the Northern Forest Canoe trail. I was wonderful, I slept like a baby every night. A soft place to sleep is well worth any bulk or weight.

Comments about Big Agnes Iron Mountain Sleeping Pad - Long - Special Buy:
I used it near a large lake in the Smokies and found at 40 degrees to be amazing; much better than my 30 year old military surplus pad. (It takes me a while to upgrade.) I slept on a very flat surface that I purposefully cleaned of sharp debris, so I cannot attest to durability, however, I would say as tosser and turner it was SO comfortable. I am not convinced it would be to great below freezing, but with the warmest sleeping bag you can afford, it will be amazing.
