Comments about Gregory Z Pack - '06 Closeout:

This pack is very light. I like to hit the trail and do lots of miles. This pack makes it easy. I have bushwacked in Alaska, hiked the Grand Canyon, the Smokies, and Zion, the North Cascades and a little climbing on Ranier with this pack and still haven't had an issues with durability. The bottom of the pack is not very accessible, but that is the only downside I can mention. I can load it up with a 3-season down bag and other essential gear and still have enough room for 3-4 days of clothes and food.

Comments about Gregory Z Pack - '06 Closeout:

So, I've got the travel bug and had to use several other's packs for traveling and this one is just what I wanted. I know people don't like it when foreigners can dig into outside pockets, but I like to be able to access different parts of my bag when I'm living out of it (without having to unpack every time). Its great for that. Just got back from a month of living out of bags and this was easy to move around with, and durable.

Solid pack. Any way you think of adjusting it, you can. There are a lot of straps though that can get a little confusing but I guess it's a trade off. I was surprised by such a big pack being so light! I love the mesh bucket pocket that holds pretty much anything. It's a very comfortable, affordable, durable pack in my opinion.

Comments about Gregory Z Pack - '06 Closeout:

I like the suspension system a lot, very comfortable with great load transfer. The capacity is very adjustable and you can remove features you don't need for specific trips. It is a little heavy and large for a "lightweight" pack. 3lbs isn't light. The dynema actually tore on mine, right through the specrta grids. I like the pack, but if you really want alight/ultralight pack you can do much better. (GOLTIE JAM!!!)

If you are just looking for a 'lighter' pack with all the features of a 'normal' pack for loads under 40lbs this should be ok for you.

Very happy with this backpack. Very light weight and holds all my gear. Even got caught hiking in the rain and this backpack is totally water proof. None of my gear got wet. I am going to get my whole family Gregory Packs.

Great pack with lots of room, have never fully packed it out. Has side straps to put other gear if need be (usually a Therm-a-rest goes on one side). The downside is the shoulder straps are sewn in, so no adjustment there. Have carried close to 30 lbs and no problem.

I did some traveling to Indonesia last year and this pack served me well. I was able to pack it down hard with tons of stuff that I had purchased. Very comfortable and highly recommended.
