I Initially bought because of the easy pack-ability. I first used it on an overnight trip to camp the south rim of Big Bend and the set worked as advertised. When I got back I stored in a cool dry box in my closet. It’s been a few months and I just started packing for a trip out to Sedona and opened the green cup before packing. I noticed a large split in the silicon where the cup collapses and when I went to open it the entire top rim separated from the bottom. Overall the durability takes away from the convenience
I've used this set a few times. It really stood out when I decided to make some pasta in Moab. The built in strainer works as advertised and the sauce cleaned off the sides with ease. Obviously one downside is that you can't use the large pot with anything other than a camp stove (no Colemans or Camp Chefs) but that's fine for backpacking. Another slight annoyance was the mugs and bowls took a while to break in when folding the set down due to the silicone being pretty stiff. Obviously I'd rather have them be stiff as opposed to flimsy. Overall, amazing product.
I used this cookware set for a year and enjoyed it a lot before discovering that the seams that make the silicon collapsible had developed holes. I loved that it collapsed and could be slid easily into my pack, and the silicone is pretty lightweight, but I am very bummed that the silicone didn't hold up for more than a year. I wound up switching to a titanium set that takes up slightly more space in my pack but actually weighs about 10 ounces less. Random side note, the silicone has a slightly weird flavor that it adds to whatever you put in it. I was happy to just ignore it and enjoy the awesomeness of a collapsible set but might as well mention that here. Definitely recommend just biting the bullet and buying a titanium set that will last forever.
The thought is great but I didn't love the product. I ended up returning it. I used it on two backpacking trips and I was always the last person to eat because it took so long to cook or boil water. I could not turn my stove up all the way because the flames would have burned the silicon so it took much longer to do things like boil water.
This set lasted about a year. The seams on the large pot developed holes and ripped at the lower folds while we were backpacking. Disappointed and surprised. We later replaced the pot with a solid but smaller capacity backpacking pot. The bowls and cups are still usable.
We LOVED our Sea to Summit pot. Totally worth splurging some extra $$$ for..... until it tore in one of the folds. We used it on about six trips. Looks like we will be packing a little bulkier with a solid pot but we just can't take the risk of being in the backcountry with an expensive broke pot... bummer
The base is large enough to take the flames from my stove at full blast without letting them lick at the silicon sides, so cooking was easy and versatile. Cleanup is pretty easy too. Be careful packing it all back together - if the lid doesn't seat fully with everything inside then you've done it wrong. We made that mistake and the hard plastic lid was completely crushed in our luggage.
We loved this cookset while it was working. It didn't even last a year though before the lid cracked and the pot got a tiny hole in it. This was only after using it on 4 weekend camping trips. It saves space and it very light but we returned ours and went back to something more durable.
Cooked some very good meals and had it a month and the lid cracked so we sent it back I would love for REI to send me another onefor motorcycle camping and it fit good in our saddlebag
The cups and bowls were very easy to clean after use. The pot was large enough to boil enough water for two meals at the same time. The handles on the pot could be a tad more sturdy but do the job. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and am glad to have found a solution for a kitchen set to take up less space in my bag and not have to sacrifice quality.
