by frommeh... I received this for Christmas and it has since been returned to REI. I found the gps on this watch to be difficult to bring up. I also needed a % of max heart rate function which it does not seem to have. Geared for runners, it could be good, but for my needs (primarily cycling), just didn't fit the bill. Will keep looking. 5 stars for REI's great return policy and helpful staff.

by fromSave your money, don't buy this watch I used to love Garmin products. I did extensive reviews and bought this for running and its pedometer function. I owned this for only 3 months, I grabbed it off of the countertop and I accidentally dropped it on the floor. The digital screen jumbled and wouldn't function. Contacted Garmin regarding their 1 year warranty...guess what? Not covered under warranty. Three months and $170 down the drain. Better off with Suunto or Fitbit.

by fromPoor documentation I can't figure out how it counts steps - some days I'll have more steps for less miles. The instructions don't explain anything. In fact, I had to play with it to figure out how to use it at all. If I ever figure out what it's measuring/counting, it will be more useful. If not, I'll probably return it.

by fromGarmins Website Woes not worth it I have had my Garmin for a few months now. I cannot recommend this product to anyone at this time. There have been so many difficulties with the Garmin Connect website. I was patient and waited as they addressed the issues....two months later, there are still issues. I have lost data from my runs and other activities due to website "downage," inability to sync. and web syncing issues that delayed and then did not allow for uploading information due to the lack of prompt downloading. Email and phone customer support is lacking a well. Everyone is polite, you just don't get correct information. I received an "I'm sorry your information didn't uploaded, but you can load the information manually." I thanked the man, hung up, then tried to manually put in my information only to be informed...."we're sorry, you cant manually input that information." I wouldn't buy this until you know for certain that Garmin has improved its system.

by fromDefective Product If I could give it zero I would. When it arrived, it already had almost ALL of the memory used up so when I went for a run, the memory was full after only 1.5 miles (I run 5-6 miles per day). It was brand new. Garmin knows of this issue and provided a 20 minute instruction list on how to fix it. It did not work. Garmin's website is very unreliable so forget about synching it on a regular basis. I was never able to synch my data, but my data was only 1.5 miles so it was no big deal. Exchanged it for another brand.

by fromNot a watch for endurance activities We do a lot of endurance cycling and hiking. The literature claims 8 hours battery life. Not so, if using a HR monitor. More like 5-6 hours. If you are not paying close attention and the battery dies, you lose the current activity data. Also, the watch cannot be recharged while a recording is active. For example, if you are doing a 8 hour activity and the battery runs low at 4 hours, you can't pause the activity, recharge, and resume the activity. This watch will work well for short duration activities, but the battery life between charges is really poor.

by fromAccurate and easy to operate This watch is very user friendly and is quite accurate. I ran a 10k last night and the reading on the watch was 6.20 miles exactly. This is my first GPS watch - I finally upgraded from the traditional watch that only tracks time. I am very pleased with the purchase.
