    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by fromThe Best Headlamp I've Had I've had 3 or 4 generations of Tikka Headlamps... This ones the best. It's brighter (even the red light ) once that you get used to it. I want to get one for my Brother also.

by fromHas a terrible design flaw. DO NOT BUY! The mechanism that holds this headlamp at the angle you set when you tilt it is much too loose. It will not hold the headlamp at the desired angle if you are active. Actions such as jumping over a small stream, or hopping down from a small boulder or a log would be enough to make the lamp tilt change, usually all the way down. I didn’t try running with it, but based on how loose it was, I think it would tilt down with every stride. I tested it by jumping down just two stairs (total drop of 12 inches) and landing at the bottom. The lamp tilted all the way down every time. And this was brand new, right out of the package! It will only get worse when it gets some wear on it. This is completely unacceptable for a headlamp marketed as one of Petzl’s “Active Series.” This design flaw makes this headlamp unusable for me. When I found this issue, I thought it must be just a manufacturing defect in the one I got, so I went back to REI and asked to exchange it. The second one had exactly the same fatal flaw, so I returned it. I currently own five Petzl headlamps, including two previous generations of the Tikka XP. I have loved all of them. None of them have this flaw. The above-described design flaw is reason enough not to buy this lamp; but in addition to that, the operation of the switch is frustratingly stupid. First, it always comes on at the lowest light setting (5 lumen). To increase the brightness you have to click the switch again. You have to click the switch three times after turning it on to get it to the maximum light output. If you get in a hurry to increase the light level, and your clicks are too close together, it goes into boost mode (10 seconds of very bright light, then goes back to the original level) instead of going to the next level; so you can’t just turn it on and do three quick clicks to get to the brightest setting. You have to space the clicks out. The repeated clicks of the switch required to increase the light output level may not seem like a big deal, but if you were walking in an area where there are light and dark places, and you wanted to turn it off in the light areas to save batteries, every time you turned it back on you would have to go through several clicks to get a level of light suited to walking. That would be tedious. It would have been much better if they had designed it to have the light come on at whatever brightness setting was being used the last time it was turned off. Then, if you wanted to change that, you could click the switch to cycle through the various levels. Second, unlike all my previous Petzl headlamps which turn on with a quick click, this one requires a long-press of the switch to turn it on or off. There is no reason why it shouldn’t come on instantly with a quick click. Again, may not seem like a big deal; but if you’re turning it off and on a lot, it’s going to get frustrating. It’s sad that this headlamp has these design flaws. Its light output was amazing. I’ll just keep using my Tikka XP2 until Petzl releases a new version of this product that corrects the design defects of this product.
