by fromExtremely comfortable! I purchased this sleeping pad for the sole purpose of taking it with me to teach in Thailand. The beds are usually rock hard (sometimes you even get a box spring instead of a mattress) so I figured I should bring something to sleep on. I've been using it for over a month now, and I can only say this sleeping pad is worth the cost! After thinking about the lower cost sleeping pads, I'm glad I went with this one because I wake up feeling completely refreshed every morning. It does lose a little pressure over time so I've had to top it up a couple times in the last month, but only slightly. Maybe that's only due to the heat of Thailand in May, though. The inflation bag took a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually quite easy. The Exped is quiet, too, which was a big selling point for me. I knew I was planning on using this for a year, at least, and I didn't want something that crinkled or rustled whenever I moved around. It also isn't slippery like other sleeping pads, and it stays put. I cannot say whether it is good for very cold weather, as I will not experience that in Thailand, but it doesn't retain excess heat in sweltering weather. The sales associate in the store was a little concerned about the amount of insulation in it for the heat of Thailand, but I haven't had a problem with it. I would say if you are planning on backpacking it's too big, but for car camping or traveling it is awesome. I could not be happier with this sleeping pad! I would give more stars if possible!

by fromVery comfortable I got this specifically for kayak camping. I have the Exped Synmat 7 but the Synmat 12 is quite a bit more comfortable because of the extra thickness and the box sides. It's too big and heavy for backpacking, but it does fit in a kayak. It's only slightly less comfortable than the Synmat MegaMat, but it's a lot lighter and the packed size is about one third of the MegaMat. The Schnozzel works okay. Not really fun to inflate, but it works. Bottom line: huge amount of comfort in a reasonably small packed size.
