The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by jsn7cffromSurvived the Inca Trail!Love these pants! Wore them for the 4D 3N Inca Trail hike in Peru and was very impressed! They were long enough (I am tall and had trouble finding pants that were long enough), adjustable in the waist, stretchy but didn't lose shape, really comfortable and kept me cool! Love these pants and would recommend them to anyone!

by Mimsaifromwhat? What? WHAT?I can't hear you over the sound of my pants! I got these home, and WOW are they ever loud. Women with thighs beware of the friction!
So, I'm an avid outdoorswoman. I hike, camp, backpack, cycle, ski, ice climb, etc. I am strong, I am fit, I have a big booty and DD's on top (real!), I also go IN at the waist. I have a distinct challenge finding outdoor clothing to suit my lovely ladylike figure. So, I buy clothing that lasts, and baby it to make sure it really lasts.
That being said, I think the last time I bought hiking pants was 5+ years ago. Since then there seems to have been an industry-wide shift away from, well, actual clothing. ALL the backpacking pants (and I tried on EVERY single one my REI had) were glorified leggings (sometimes with pockets).
Do other women really, truly, find this to be OK? Really? Tissue thin, reveals-every-curve-and-bump, fragile fabric between me and the backcountry is something that fills me with quiet dread. What if I have to scoot over a boulder, will I have a giant rip in the seat of my "pants" for the rest of my days-long backpacking trip?
Anyhow, I basically bought these under duress. They were really the only pants that fit and felt just a little less like wafer thin ephemera than all the other pants REI had. I'm deeply unsatisfied with them. They have *almost* none of the features that I look for in backpacking pants. But, my old pair are too patched to be worn (there's more patch than pant at this point) and I have a trip to go on. ::sigh::

by Runner Girl MilwaukeefromBeware Sahara Shorts LoversI have the Sahara shorts and the Sahara convertible pants - so thought that these would be a nice addition to my wardrobe. I love the shorts and pants because they are designed for women, not teenagers. The waist is AT the waist not low on the hips - the zipper is normal length, etc. These pants are not like the other Sahara items in ANY way - the zipper is about 4 inches long, guaranteeing an unflattering look and the obvious "plumbers gap" when sitting. They are also sized smaller than the other Sahara items. REI - you should really change the name of these pants so that people like me wouldn't waste my time and 20% member discount on them.

by Ian StewartfromGreat for traveling & climbing in Thailand in FebMy wife bought these for our trip to Thailand in Feb. She wanted convertible pants so that she could be covered for the temples & cooler airplane temps, pants in a light material to make the warm temps & humidity bearable, and pants with stretch & durable material for climbing. These fit all those criteria & when she got home she discovered they have another added benefit: they repel dog hair. Not out-right, but she can easily brush off any dog hair just with her hand. Her one issue with them that takes a star away is the button on the inside for the adjustable elastic waistband: the position of it just happens to sit right on her hip bone & can irritate her skin/hip after a long day in them. She is 115#, 5'5" & 35 hip & has these in 0. Fit great on her otherwise.

by NDVPfromBased only on initial fit.I just received these pants. While trying them on, admiring the fit over my backside I thought to myself, "If only they made adult pants like kids' with the adjustable elastic in the waistband." (I am blessed with a proportionally smallish waist when compared to my thighs.) Well, I looked down, inside the waistband to find ADJUSTABLE ELASTIC! The angels have sung! I literally gasped. My only hope is that they hold up for many years like all of my other REI pants and shorts (I have two pairs of shorts I wear regularly that I think are the Sahara style that are at least 10 years old and are in perfect condition.) I am 5'7", more leg than torso, 145 pounds, and got a size 10. They go all the way to my heel which is a rare find for me. They make my backside look fabulous. I may have to keep my husband in front of me on the trail.

by HikerTerrifromLove these pants!Comfortable, plenty of storage space and looked great after 20 miles of hiking and a night of sleeping in them on a short backpack trip. I especially love the custom-fit elastic waist! The only con is that they are way too long - I'm 5'5 and have never had to hem a pair of hiking pants before!
