Stitching constantly snags on zippers...
When I bought this jacket, I was in love. The cobalt blue color is vibrant, and the fit is perfect for my curves and doesn't bunch in unflattering places, which was a struggle in similar light-down jackets. Great for layering under a jacket, or over a cotton hoodie. My issue with the item is that the stitching constantly snags on the main and pocket zippers, and as a result, I have no less than 6 pulled threads on the undersides of my sleeves, from the forearm area to slightly above the crook of the elbow. I don't want to return my jacket, but I am disappointed in the stitching construction. It's almost as if the thread tension was too loose when the baffling was sewn. I will be keeping this item but I'll be thinking twice about buying another Patagonia item.
Really nice jacket but uneven quality
I had a nanopuff jacket from 2012 that I absolutely loved, but last winter I accidentally left it in Costa Rica, one of the most useless places on earth to leave a puffy jacket! So I was pretty excited to get my new one and use it on a 3 day trip to an off the grid cabin in the Sierra Nevadas. The jacket was great--warm, soft and light--but when I got home I found that some of the stitching was coming out of one of the arms. I'm going to return it and try a second one since I never had these problems with my first jacket. But I must say I'm pretty disappointed because all of my other patagonia products have held up beautifully under many years of use.
Great jacket
I got this because my boyfriend was tired of me borrowing his nanopuff. This jacket does everything its supposed to and it looks great on. My only gripe is that have a short torso and wide hips and so it's somewhat stressful to get the two edges of the zipper to meet and zip up and then it tends to ride up and sit on top of my hips. I am tiny everywhere else otherwise I'd go up a size (I got the small and am 5'3''). Such is the curse of having a tiny waist and wide hips/curvy butt. I'm wishing I had gotten the pullover version which seemed like it had a wider bottom. What is great, however, is that the arms are plenty long.
Fabulous jacket!
I am very cold natured so finding something that is warm, lightweight, Anderson say to take of is an important part of winter comfort for me. This jacket is great. I got a pullover and then splurged and got two of the jackets. I layer a nano puff vest under the jackets and can easily regulate how warm I need to be. The sleeves are a tiny bit long but that helps if you layer a sweater under it. This runs true to size with other Patagonia items. Nano puff comes out of the wash almost dry-way easier than down. That's a huge plus to me. Nano puff isn't cheap but the product delivers! Save up and get one when your budget allows. Well worth every penny,
nearly perfect
I mostly love this jacket because it packs well, provides a good layer of warmth, has zip pockets, and has a flattering fit (I´m 5´4, 115lbs and the small is perfect for going over a fleece or sweatshirt.) That being said, I expected this to provide a bit more warmth. I took it with on a trip to actual Patagonia and definitely needed multiple layers of warmth underneath in order to stay warm (30-45 degree weather + some wind.) Also, I find the hem drawcord to be awkward as it is just on one side and so becomes very long when I tighten it and then I have a long awkward loop of elastic that sometimes dangles out from under my jacket.
Poor Stitching
I have read previous reviews about the stitching being inadequate but they were from over a year or so ago. I was hoping that the issue would be fixed. Have other people been having this problem still? Unfortunately, I have had my jacket since Christmas (it has been about two-three weeks) and already there are stitches coming out and snagging on things. Very unimpressed considering the price. I love the weight and feel of the jacket and it keeps me extremely warm considering. However, knowing that my jacket could fall apart on me makes me uneasy. Going to contact REI tomorrow on another option. Really hope Patagonia fixes this issue or their products will start being known for poor workmanship.
Love my Puff Jacket!
Took this with me on my last backing trip. It was very light in my pack and kept me warm though out the night and in the early morning hours.
Pay attention to the manufacturer's description
I love this jacket. It is so light and packable -- a staple for travel. It is meant for layering in colder climes. The stitching unraveled in several places on my original jacket. I sent back to Patagonia to repair almost one year after I bought it from REI. Patagonia ended up replacing it instead, so I am very happy.
Warm and compact, but falls apart quick
I use my jacket for work and casually. Work consist of outdoor field work, so I put my clothes through tough conditions. This jacket is compact and warm, and its a really nice addition to my backpack. However, after almost 2 years, there's about a dozen threads that have ripped or completely fallen off the jacket. It doesn't look too good. Plus, avoid light colors. I have aqua blue and even after cleaning it, it is permanently stained now.
great jacket!
This is a great jacket - lightweight but warm. I particularly like the length of both the body and the sleeves. I'm 5'11" and often buy tall sizes so that sleeves are long enough but I had no problem with this jacket - it fits great. The colors are nice too - subtle but interesting. The blue color is more violet than it looks online.
