Comments about Saris Bones 2-Bike Trunk Rack:
I picked this up because my old bike rack would not fit my recently purchased car... a Volkswagen Corrado. The car has a rear spoiler which comes up at highway speeds and most racks interfere with its operation and dont work. I needed something which could clear the spoiler as well as allow it to freely move, meaning i needed something with a large arc or which came out from the car.
The Saris is pricey and i was afraid it wouldnt work since i had yet to find something that did. So far i have only done a test fit and it clears beautifully, as well as feeling very sturdy and just looks plain cool. This rack looks better than anything i have seen in the rear mount style. It folds down and while it still takes up some space, is easier to fit in my small hatch and make it work. The way it folds allows it to be stored in a duffle bag or similar. My old rack couldnt do that and was left to bounce around in the trunk.
All in all, i am pleased with it. I wish it was a little cheaper, say $100 which is still above the price of most but more reasonable. Most cars dont need this and you can save the money. If you have an odd fitment like a hatch or spolier clearance problem this will most likely be your only option. If you want the coolest looking and most verstitile rack around and will spend the bones to get it, the Saris is it.
