I took my advancedframe convertible elite out my first trip with no deck, open. Since then, I've taken it out twice (in 2 weeks of ownership) with the deck, and will probably never leave the deck off again. I like that it brings the rigging closer to you and that it keeps the inside of the kayak clean. I've read about people really having to work to keep out mildew due to wet storage. This deck keeps out water fantastically and helps lessen the cleanup and mildew concerns.
