Comments about Hydro Flask Wide-Mouth Vacuum Bottle - 18 fl. oz.:
I thought this would be great for keeping iced soda cool, but its only so-so. I also have the Zojirushi tuff sports bottle, and I'd estimate it is twice as effective at keeping liquids cold as this one. Its too bad because I like everything else about it. As an example, I put perhaps 3 ice cubes in it and some cold diet coke, and the ice cubes were gone in an hour. The outside is noticeably cool, but not cool enough for condensation. The Zojirushi will often keep ice overnight. I'd recommend looking at Zojirushi Tuff Slim Vacuum Bottle for a similar size. Its not the same form factor, so that may not work for you. I notice the Hydro Flask people do not post any data about heat/cold retention for their bottles.

Yes, I live in Bend, where this company resides. But all bias aside, I don't know why products can exists for years, and then all of the sudden, somebody just does it right. This is the iPad of insulated containers. All I can say is...full moon x-ski, negative temps for more than an hour, plus travel time, and the hot coco is still too hot to drink. I now own three, and give them as gifts regularly.

First thing, waking up in camp (desert, mountains, wherever..) I make two cups of coffee, one for the mug, one for the flask. After the first cup, I'm off on a morning circuit of wandering, and climbing, the flask has my joe.. When packing for the day trip, I fill this guy with hot miso soup for after a days climbing... Nobody knows how perfect that is! hot protein yummy sharing smiles in the alpenglow :) fueled for the hike out :)
