Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Careful with the Cap This line of bottles is very efficient. Hot stays hot, cold stays cold. I have several sizes. The problems are: Caps break easily. If you use the loop to hang the bottle or drop the bottle on the cap it will break. I have resorted to buying spares from the manufacturer. Since you can't use the cap loop to hang the bottle there is nothing else to tie a lanyard to. There is no lip at the mouth like most bottles, so you cannot hang it by a noose around the neck of the bottle. You need to use a carrier of some sort to carry the bottle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad, but nothing great I was looking for a thermos to keep hot tea with me while doing winter climbing in RMNP. I've been hearing about HydroFlask for a while, and wanted to give it a shot. Although the bottle looks nice while carrying it around, it is heavy, expensive, and doesn't keep water as hot as the cheaper REI Vacuum Bottle. It probably is better used as a bottle to keep water cold while out and about in the city, or to keep in the car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good heat retention On a recent project, I measured the heat loss on various size stainless steel insulated containers (Thermos bottles, coffee cups, etc.). I started by filling each container to its capacity with 200 degree water. Below are the temperatures for containers in the 16-24 oz. range after a 3 hour & 10 hour period - numbers shown after the item are: temp. after 3 hrs and temp. after 10 hrs. The list includes this item as well as the others listed. I also included a pretty much standard (larger size) 32 oz. Thermos bottle and a "no-name" 16 oz. insulated container with sealing cap & cup/lid that I got free for subscribing to a magazine for comparison. Items are listed in order of the content temperature after 10 hours. 32 oz Thermos 193,178 24 oz Thermos Direct Drink 180, 152 16 oz Thermos Backpack bottle 177, 143 16 oz No-Name publication give-away bottle 178, 142 21 oz Hydro Flask 177, 139 16 oz Thermos Cup rotating seal 169, 130 20 oz Kleen Kanteen 167, 125 24 oz Oxo Good Grips LiquiSeal 150, 104 16 oz Kleen Kanteen 151, 103 16 oz Starbucks Cup 144, 100 Over time, heat loss occurs through the double stainless walls with a vacuum between them. However, most heat escapes due to poor design, location, and sealing of the lid and/or stopper. Specifically the lid or stopper should seal at or below the upper end of the double wall vacuum section of the stainless portion of the container and the lid/stopper should have some kind of insulation itself, if only an internal air space. For instance the stainless steel Starbucks cup itself has pretty good insulation qualities on its own and the lid seals just at the upper end of the double wall vacuum section. But the cap is a single piece of plastic that just bleeds heat off the surface of the liquid inside. The Oxo is even worse in that it has the same lid configuration the Starbucks cup has but in addition has a band of about an inch between where the lid seals and where the vacuum insulation starts ?? BIG heat loss here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps cool for the entire day I usually use Nalgene bottles for hydration because of it's larger capacity however once the water turns warm it's just not as refreshing. Although the Hydro Flask has a smaller capacity it's ability to retain temperature is amazing. I recently went on a day trip and the water stayed refreshingly cold for approximately 7.5 hours. Every sip was a joy to drink. It really does surprise you how cold the water will keep. The other great thing about the Hydro Flask is the fact that it doesn't "sweat" at all. I almost love this feature as much as the temperature control. Nothing irritates me more than a wet bottle that now attracts sand/dirt. Plus the coated version of the Hydro Flask has a really nice matte texture on the outside that increases grip. Great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice but could be better very nice but the cap opening is too small and there are to many screw turns to get the cap off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Container I bought my Hydro Flask to keep my water cold @ work. It has more than exceeded my expectations. It will keep ice and water COLD for over 8 hours. That's about the longest time between uses for me. Am going to purchase another for the hot drinks I enjoy. My Camelback if on the shelf permanently!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great flask but watch the cap This was my first experience with HydroFlask (my wife has since bought me a wide-mouth version for my birthday). Its insulating ability is the best I have seen. It is a good shape for packing, holding, and drinking. My down on this is the cap. For some reason, liquids get in the threads, and so you better not put the cap down on any surface you don't want to get wet. Be especially careful if you have juice, coffee, or soup in the flask. Except for that, though, perfect.
