evolv Shaman Rock Shoesis rated4.4out of5by15.
Rated5out of5byfromAmazing ShoeThis climbing shoe has inproved my climbing, and is really comfortable, but agressive. I have big toes and the larger toe box helps the fit. If your looking for an perfect shoe this is it.

Rated5out of5byfromShimmy like a shamanI've had these shoes for two years. I had to upsize a half size from my street shoes in order to get the proper fit. With the shoes sized properly the straps are not too long for me as others have reported; fits like a glove. These shoes offer solid, stiff support and edge and stick pretty well. The toe box makes these shoes, not just bearable, but downright comfy to wear. I had a broken big toe a few years back and although "healed" it is sensitive. When climbing I forget that I have these on, no need to bear the pain for me. My shoes stay pretty clean and odor free since I use cedar bag inserts to keep them dry and fresh and I wash them with an enzyme cleaner once in a while. I just had two tiny holes show through the front toes. Everything else is still solid and in good shape. Luckily, you can resole these shoes for a small fee. If they stank too bad, I would prefer to just get a new pair, but it's worth being pragmatic if you can.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat ShoeMy daughter is an avid climber and a few years ago the Shaman was her first aggressive shoe and she loved it. She happily went through three pairs as she grew before switching to the Shaman LV. The edging power is incredible…she can use the tiniest little nothings and stick to them confidently. The shoe is aggressive and does great on overhangs, as expected, but is also flexible enough with sticky rubber for solid smearing. This is a great aggressive shoe to help you get to the next level! (She switched to the Shaman LV because the lower volume gave her small foot a tighter fit.)

Rated5out of5byfromFoot-gasumBefore buying any shoe, I suggest trying on several of them in person; everyones feet are different, and shoes will fit everyone differently. However, that being said, out of all the shoes I tried on, these where the most comfortable. The 3 strap system does a great job at getting the perfect fit on my foot and its super easy to adjust as needed. These have serious edging power, and the smallest grain is enough for maximum traction. After climbing in these shoes, I don't think I'll ever buy a different brand.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat Shoe!!I could definitely tell a difference between these and my previous shoes (Evolv Pontas). It was a HUGE step up! I loved wearing these shoes! It seemed as though I was kind of between sizes, and after breaking them in with 3-4 hrs per day, 4 days a week for nearly a month, I could tell that after they formed to my feet more, I needed socks with them (originally sized without socks). These shoes did everything I asked of them! They performed wonderfully whether it was edging, overhang, pockets, it didnt matter! The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because they dug into the back of my ankle pretty bad. And shortly after deciding to take them back (but before I could return them) I noticed that a small slit had formed at the top of the rubber on the side of the shoe where it goes to the synthetic material. But I have heard no complaints of this kind in other reviews. I loved the shoes but decided to get the La Sportiva Miura VS' and really love them so far! but I will have a review for them also (soon!)! And the REI policy cant be beat! They have never let me down in any field! (Service, customer care, products)

Rated4out of5byfromA great shoe with one drawback. So, this is my second review of this shoe. After climbing in the shoe for 5 months, I now feel the need to write a more thorough review of the Shaman. I still think the Shaman's rigid and non-flexing shape provide tremendous power on the rock. I believe that aggressive downturned shoes like the Shaman's are absolutely essential for that boulderer or sport climber wanting to push into the more advanced climbing grades. My only legitimate con with the shoe are the 3 velcro straps. #1: Straps are long and once tight on my foot, have an inch or more hanging off which is really annoying. I have cut off about an inch on the middle strap, but they still manage to get caught on just about everything! #2: Velcro has a limit to it's durability, i.e. expect the velcro to eventually fail. The Shaman is great, and I have loved climbing in them, but I don't think I'll buy another pair of climbing shoes with velcro straps.

Rated5out of5byfromMonths of climbing and still happyThought these shoes would be uncomfortable based on their aggressive style. I have used these for months top roping and bouldering. I purchased these to replace my Sportiva Katana's which I loved. This is my first pair of Evolv shoes and I must say they are comfortable and allow me to get in those tiny cracks. The rubber sticks allowing me to smear with confidence. The heel is fully covered making heel hooking solid. As mentioned earlier sizing is off. This seems to be the case from manufacturer to manufacturer; Sportiva, Five Ten, Evlolv I am a 8.5 in Five Ten Moccasym and 9 in Sportiva. However with this shoe specifically I am a 11. Recommendation- Try them on in store.

Rated4out of5byfromSuper aggressive shoe!Well, first off, I want to say these shoes are worth it! As the review above says, "toes for days!" and it's so true! Amazing edging power due to its super aggressive shape. You can dial your toe into the smallest of edges and be assured its not going anywhere! As many have also said, this shoe doesn't flex or adapt to your foot, what comes out of the box will stay that way. On that note, my only "issue" with the shoe is the sizing. I had to order 3 before getting the right size for my foot. I ended up going a half-size larger than my street shoe! You definitely don't need to downsize to guarantee performance, it's already built into the shoes design. With this in mind, these are slightly more comfortable than other down-turned shoes, but I wouldn't recommend wearing these for more than 1 pitch. Also, I'm not sure if my foot is extra narrow, but after strapping these on my feet, I have a lot of excess strap hanging off which has gotten caught on stuff while climbing. Other than that, great sport climbing shoe!
