by fromAwesome Pad for Car Camping Great to use for car camping, very large and will not work for portaging (BWCA) or backpacking. We use this for base camp. The unit has two air releases, but still takes a long time to inflate (self-inflating). Open it up when you get to camp and then give it a couple of puffs before you hit the sack--it'll be PERFECT. You will NOT regret buying this for car camping!!!

by fromExcellent sleeping pad for tall people This sleeping pad is oversized and delivers. I'm 6'5" and this worked just fine for me. It is too bulky to really use for serious, space-limited packing (I think) but for car camping or where a little extra bulk can be managed to get comfort over a long stay, this pad rocks. Easy to inflate and store.

by fromWorth the money Very comfortable, very easy to inflate and deflate, great if you don't have to lug very far. Not ideal for a long hike in.

by fromLUXURY INDEED !!! Got two of these to replace my old tandem mattress. And although the old tandem fit my tent floor space perfectly, two of these used with the DOWN COUPLER that Thermarest also sells work just as well (if not better). And now that I've had a chance to use them a few times, I have to say they are most impressive. In my opinion, the comfort rating is a high as it gets (and this is coming from a die hard tent camper with severe arthritis in their hips). The foam is extra cushy and could almost be used without inflation (not recommended though). Once inflated properly, they feel better than a fancy bed mattress with a cushy top. And the Down Coupler adds stability and that little extra softness factor that makes the whole package a delight to use (no shifting, no wadded up sheets). I'm absolutely thrilled with the ensemble and would recommend it to anyone (except ultra-lite backpackers as they're a little hefty for gear minimalists, and Thermarest makes excellent lighter-weight products specifically for that purpose). Usage NOTES: open the valves and let them lie flat for a few hours. The longer you let them self inflate, the less blowing you'll need to do. I left mine (valves open) in the sun for a couple hours and was blown away (pun intended) by how much they self inflated without assistance. At this point I closed the valves and inserted them into the Down Coupler (which was a snap as Thermarest did a remarkable job with the fit of these mattresses to the coupler). I then finished the inflation process with just a few more puffs. REALLY EASY SET UP, REALLY REALLY COMFORTABLE.

by fromLuxuryMap R size I had used it 2 times. I moved from a trail lite mattress and the difference is greatly appreciated comfort speaking. I let it sit to self inflate and close the valve. Then I have to lay on top of it and release some air to get the best pressure for my taste. That proves how efficient the self inflating of it is. Great product.

by fromExcellent Base camp bad After hiking the AT and sleeping on a Neoair Trekker for 4.5 months, I joined a trail crew for two months. Weight was no longer an issue, so I brought my XL Luxary Map pad. The NeoAir XLite and Trekkers are comfortable, but switching to this, it felt like I was sleeping on a bed. Hands down the best portable base camp pad I've owned. After trail crew, I used the pad in the back of my truck when I drove across country and when I finally returned to civilization, I slept on this pad for a month before I broke down and bought a bed.
