The women's REI Traverse Shocklight trekking poles provide quiet stability and support so you hear the sounds of nature and not the clicks of your poles.

Women-specific design is lighter weight and shorter, and features a smaller grip than its unisex counterpart
Shock-absorbing poles reduce fatigue while improving stability; lockout mechanism creates a rigid pole when needed for more efficient climbing
Shocklight shock absorbers weigh less than common spring-loaded mechanisms and won't rattle within the shaft as you walk
Internal twist-lock mechanisms apply a wide area of pressure against pole walls to lock in length adjustment
With the Stop Lock system, poles won't come apart; system makes the pole sections into 1 unit for security and stability
Twist-locking pole sections let you tailor the length to fit your terrain: make them shorter for the way up, longer for the way down

I like the light weight of these poles. The only issue I had was difficulty un-screwing them to change the length. And then after that, getting it tight enough to stay put. I have now found the perfect length and they seem to be doing ok and staying in place. If you are a casual hiker, this set is a great option.

Yesterday I really got to test out these hiking poles. I hiked to the top of El Capitan Mountain in Lakeside and they held up well. They took some hard knocks on the side of boulders and had to bear my weight on all the uphills (there are LOTS of those). They never felt like they would fail me even on the way down. They seem to be made well.
If there is any negative at all, on a couple of other hikes I did, the very bottom collapsible portion came loose, but I may not have tightened it down enough at the time. That's the only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars.
