    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

    • Shock-absorbing poles reduce fatigue while improving stability; lockout mechanism creates a rigid pole when needed for more efficient climbing
    • Shocklight shock absorbers weigh less than common spring-loaded mechanisms and won't rattle within the shaft as you walk
    • Internal twist-lock mechanisms apply a wide area of pressure against pole walls to lock in length adjustment
    • With the Stop Lock system, poles won't come apart; system makes the pole sections into 1 unit for security and stability
    • Twist-locking pole sections let you tailor the length to fit your terrain: make them shorter for the way up, longer for the way down
    • Strong 7075-T6 aluminum, 3-section telescoping poles extend to a maximum length of 55.1 in. and compact to 27.5 in. for easy storage and transport
    • Soft EVA foam hand grips have an ergonomic, contoured shape that is easy to hold; adjustable padded neoprene wrist straps add support
    • Fitted with trekking discs and extra-durable tungsten carbide tips; included tip protectors are strictly for travel/packing protection, not intended for hiking

by frompoor quality the shaft gets either locked up and you can't change the length or they will not lock up and hold it's length, don't buy them

by fromNeeds some changes to reach perfection These are very light and very strong, capable poles. The shock absorb is good, adjustability and locking mechanism is solid, and I put a good solid load on them as I used them to pole vault longer jumps. What makes them 3 instead of 5 star is two issues. 1) The mechanism to disable and lock the shock is a rotation of the shock absorbing pole section in a counterclockwise direction. This works fine but the pole in your right hand will tend to disengage on it's own and the pole in your left hand will tend to engage on it's own as you trek. This tends to be a problem because the poles will not stay in the shock mode that you choose. 2) Using them to go downhill is a little uncomfortable. Since there is no other place to grip when going hard down, if you grasp the top of the grip in your palm (cupping the part that is normally above your thumb/index finger), it will start to dig into your palm because it is not really designed to be held this way. I think changing the grip to be more rounded would make it much more comfortable.

by fromHike poles So far no issues with the product. I just need to remember to tighten the poles ht adjusters so the poles dont shrink as I am hiking.

by fromAs described These are the first poles I have owned. I initially had a problem using the adjustment collars but more operator error on my part. The grips are good and solid poles.

by fromThey work as expected I got these for hiking, to take some pressure off my knees and increase my stability. It seems so far they help. The shock-absorber feature is easy to use and get used to. I haven't used them to pitch a tarp with yet, but expect they will work.

by fromExcellent Trekking Poles I have a painful hip when I walk very far. These trekking poles mean that I can walk much farther than I have before with no discomfort. The only con is that I get out and walk more than I used to!

by fromGreat for hiking\backpacking I bought these for my girlfriend who loves to go hiking\backpacking but has some knee issues. She enjoys them very much and insists that they've saved her from bad falls on several ocaisions. She says it's like having 2 extra legs. They're easy to adjust and very lightweight. The shock mode is great for downhill trails. If she decides not to use them they collapse to a nice, packable size.
