Comments about REI Traverse Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:
I have a painful hip when I walk very far. These trekking poles mean that I can walk much farther than I have before with no discomfort. The only con is that I get out and walk more than I used to!

Comments about REI Traverse Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:
So far no issues with the product. I just need to remember to tighten the poles ht adjusters so the poles dont shrink as I am hiking.

Comments about REI Traverse Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:
I got these for hiking, to take some pressure off my knees and increase my stability. It seems so far they help. The shock-absorber feature is easy to use and get used to. I haven't used them to pitch a tarp with yet, but expect they will work.

Comments about REI Traverse Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:
I had never used trekking poles before, but will never hike without them now that have. The REI Traverse Shcoklight Trekking Poles are economical and realatively light weight. They felt comfortable in hand and sturdy. The pole segments stayed in place and did not slip under load. But the shock lock tends to come unlocked. I am pretty sure this is the result of how I rotate my grip as I plant the pole and not a defect in the product. The shock lock is secured with a slight twist of the wrist. After all sections of the pole are adjusted to the proper height and tightend down, grip the upper section with your right hand and the middle section with your left hand and twist your right hand towards your body and your left hand away from your body to activate the shock lock. The adjustment is subtle and only requires you to rotate the pole shafts about 3/8 inch before the lock activates. To unlock, do the opposite. I usually hike with the pole shock locked out, but like to have the option available.
