by fromQuick set up I wish that this had come with (some) instructions. I've never had a tent with three poles, so it took a minute to figure out what to do with the shorter pole. It's really fast to set up once you figure out how it's supposed to go. The rain fly is a TIGHT fit though. It took a lot of readjusting before it was all snug and in the right place. Otherwise it was awesome. I like that it has a lot of ventilation even with the rain fly on. We slept in it three nights in the desert of Colorado and the wind usually can do some damage but the tent didn't move at all and with the rain fly being so snug, it didn't cause for a lot of noise all night.

by fromGreat backpacking tent for family This is a nice tent for the money. Light and compact to go backpacking with, our family of two adults and two kids fit this tent comfortably. The open mesh top and sides is really nice for feeling like your out in the open, and not just hiding in a tent.

by fromGood option for family backpacking If you are backpacking as a family this is one of the few good options. Yes you can take two smaller tents but that is heavier. Having one big tent is a better option if you have young kids. The built in gear loft is useful for glasses and headtourches. If you are looking for a 4 person car camping tent I reccommend you go for something bigger, you can sleep 4 in this but it's a bit tight for 2 people it could be a good option. The only reason for 4 stars is the rainfly, I find it really hard to get a taught pitch like in the REI photos, this makes it har to keep the separation between the tent and fly unless you can pitch on perfectly flat ground, this could ulimately affect the wet weather capabilities.

by fromNe'er a disappointment My brother-in-law has this one, 15-20 years old now. I'm been going with "another brand" and love them, but this one was the right price, right color and lighter. Backpacing with 3 kids and me. It's lighter than my 3 man and much bigger. Very easy to set up. Told my wife I could do it in the dark, so I did. Bummer that the footprint is not included. Bought it separate.

by fromLight and Roomy Four of us on a hike in La Garita. Light, easy to set up. Rained every night for 6 nights, no leaks. Four in tent causes condensation so we pulled the sides out at the base where loops were with extra ground stakes. Love this tent. Two large vestibules held all our gear dry and safe.

by fromExcellent Tent! Have only used this tent twice, but just got back from a three day camping trip in the Redwoods in an unusual rain storm even for Northern California and Oregon and the Half Dome was amazing. I was totally dry and warm in my great half dome 4. The tent is a it heavy for backpacking, but ideal for a car camping trip.

by fromFirst use in a storm Bottom line first...This is a great tent. The first real deal set up was on top of a lava field in light rain and 10-20 MPH wind. Set up was quick and went as smooth as the set up in our living room. However, after viewing several You Tube vids and general tent info online I was prepared with REAL tent stakes (MSR hurricanes). The MSR's turned out to be lifesavers because the wind and rain persisted most of the night with gusts of 50mph. Four out of the eight tents set up that night did not make it thru. Do yourself a huge favor and upgrade the tent stakes (8), you and your WIFE will thank you for it. Now the details...This was my second tent purchase in 25 years (the first hardly ever got used). After explaining to the in store representative what I thought my wife and I wanted he recommended this tent. Of course, wanting to make the best choice for us I asked him why and what advantages this tent had over the dozens of other tents in stock. Eventually we came back to this tent and purchased it. The set up was very simple though I would suggest that REI replace their product video with a more to the point, nuts and bolts, approach video. There are one or two video set ups on you tube that are more beneficial.

by fromHi Tech Tent I used this tent to camp at an all weekend music festival, Lightning In A Bottle. There were high winds 2 of the 4 days and this tent didn't budge an inch. Our neighbors tents were blowing away in the wind, an Easy-Up was broken, several friends even took their tents down, but this little trooper looked like it wan't effect by the wind in the least. Great technical design, this tent takes a little more effort to set up than a less technical tent, but once you figure it out, it isn't too difficult.
