Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
Checking this out in store over annvers sale weekend- the seams did not hold up as I used it as a grocery bag for my other REI shopping. In the store the seams riped. All I had was a head lamp, 2 pair of wool socks, a hat, and a half liter thermos. I was holding the flash by the shoulder straps. The weight was to much. This is poorly constructed. REI quality has plummeted.

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
I already reviewed but I've used this bag on a bunch of hikes now and I love it even more than before. Had to use a different bag on one hike and I got soooo sweaty. Never a problem with this one, it spoils you lol. And the straps never dig in if you use the waist belt, which is what it's for.
As for the guy whose stuff got wet: Line your pack with a plastic bag, dude! Works every time. The best tools an outdoorsman has are resourcefulness and common sense.

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
I often read reviews before I purchase. This is my first review ever and speaks to how great this pack is. I use it for commuting to work and running errands by bike. I can load up a change of clothes, lunch, and more. Went grocery shopping and packed a gallon of milk with plenty of room for a few other dinner items for the family. The straps, pockets, and other features make it easy to fit/adjust and use for multiple purposes. I plan on using it for day hiking trips this summer and foresee no problems.
The only improvement, if really pushed to say, would be to relocate the internal zipper pocket to the back or side. If you have items in the pocket (like bike tools, CO2, keys) it hangs down and gets in the way when you load the pack. But what backpack is really that easy to load?

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
I love the REI Flash series. I own the Flash 18 and the Flash 45 in addition to the Flash 22. This was a great addition with more space and features than the Flash 18. The pocket in the lid and the water bottle holders plus the larger capacity make this a great pack for day hikes.

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
Jesus, I love this bag. I can stuff everything I want and it looks amazing. It has a piece of removable plastic for support but I've been thinking about taking that out and putting a thin piece of foam in. Side pockets are massive and having only one large space and a smaller zipper space is perfect for my type of organization. Only wished it had more padding in the shoulder straps. They rub when I'm wearing a tank top but are ok with a normal tshirt. Also if it was waterproof it would officially be a perfect bag but the way it is already, pretty freaking close.

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
Really good daypack! Has a hydration pocket and lots of room for food/snacks/extra clothing. Side pockets allow easy access to whatever you need. I love the belt strap- made it really snug so the pack wasn't flopping around while I hiked. A great value and I would recommend this highly!

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
I bought this on a whim when buying new hiking boots for myself and figured that I deserved if I used my 20% member discount plus my rebate. I've been avoiding buying either the REI Travel Stuff Sack or the REI Flash 18 because I was just hoping that they would come out with something that would combine the best of both worlds and it is finally here!
Best of the REI Travel Stuff Sack: Hood for Rain Protection, 22L Capacity, Highly Packable, Large Mesh Exterior Pockets
Best of the REI Flash 18: Daisy Chain, Waist Strap, HYDRATION SLEEVE, Whistle, Foam Panel/Sit Pad, Internal Organization Pocket, Reversible for Stuff Sack, Chest Strap
With their powers combined - you have the Flash 22! I got so many compliments on my new pack on my last backpacking trip and it's also the perfect size for minimalist weekend backpacking trips on the PCT! I was able to get my bag, SOL bivvy, 10 Essentials, mess and cook kit, food, water, inflatable sleep pad, filled water bladder, and more in there and comfortably head out for a two night trip on less than 12lbs! It was amazing! I tried lashing my REI Chrysalis tent on the outside but decided against bringing a tent that particular weekend, but it would have worked out fine if I had decided to do it because the daisy chain is reinforced on the inside of the pack and the pack could easily take it.
The ONE con I had was that the rhomboidal back panel isn't NEARLY as easy to remove as the Flash 18... so, I did put an actual sit pad in my mesh pocket so that I could easily access it whenever I stopped.

I'm a motorcycle camper, I ride through the West. This light day-pack is Ideal for me as it takes up little room, and is great for a day hiking, enough room to take some rain gear, lunch and snacks, water, extra socks .....

Comments about REI Flash 22 Pack:
I bicycle commute 3 miles to work each day. For years I have used a pannier, which worked wonderfully, until my fiance came home with this beauty (marrying and R.E.I. employee has its perks). I can easily carry my change of clothes, emergency bike repair kit, and lunch, with room to spare. Using just the sternum strap it is very comfortable on the bike and MUCH more aerodynamic than panniers. I have shaved 5 minutes off my commute time since switching to the flash 22. When I'm not working I can load it with my climbing essentials and head to the gym, and the plastic stay is fantastic for when I want to throw a 6-pack and some discs in there and head to the park. I have yet to use the waist strap, but I expect to use it as my day pack from base camp during my trip to RMNP this summer, additional reviews to follow.
