Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 14 fl. oz.:
It doesn't leak at all, even if it is upside down. All around awesome product. Keeps it hot for about 4 hrs with the top sealed. My wife uses it, and she loves it. Especially the clip, since you can quickly attach it to something (instead of holding it) and not worry about it leaking. Happy wife, happy life. :)

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 14 fl. oz.:
I'm always on the look-out for an insulated mug with a handle and securely closing lid that I can use to rehydrate foods. This was the only one in the store that fit my needs. I used it extensively for a recent trip out of town to keep soups both frozen and heated. I used it simultaneously with a Thermos brand insulated mug (but it doesn't have as secure of a lid). The Thermos did better at keeping things frozen longer and heated longer, but this REI mug did OK. Haven't tried it yet camping...

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 14 fl. oz.:
I hunted for a great mug for a long time, and finally found what I was looking for in the old model of this mug. I owned maybe 3 of these mugs over 5 years as I would loose or break (1 broke) them. When my mug was recently (tragically) lost, I came back to REI to buy another and was disappointed to see a different model. However, I thought I'd give it a try because close was better than nothing.
Major Improvements
- the top has less of a lip and therefore stays closed a little better
- significantly improved heat retention.
- the clip handle seems a bit sturdier than the previous handle (which is what broke on my last mug)
Downsides compared to Previous Model
- smaller by 2 oz.
- the clip handle is hard to close- ive had to really spend the time making sure it totally latches.
Overall this is a really great mug. Its the best travel mug I've ever come across and I've recommended it to lots of people.

The clip on handle detached from the mug while clipped to my backpack. Cool mug, but apparently the carabiner clip-handle is just for show.

I use this mug to bring coffee to school for lunch. It gets cold quickly, but I don't care because it still has caffeine and it doesn't ever spill. booya!

Comments about REI Vacuum Clip Mug - 14 fl. oz.:
I needed to replace my previous travel mug since It didn't stand up to my commuting and traveling. I also needed something that let me take my time with my morning brew.
The lid on this mug fits tightly in every way that it's supposed to. You might need a little extra muscle to flip open the lid but that's a OK price to pay to avoid spilling your coffee everywhere. I don't necessarily throw my mug around all willy-nilly, but I don't tend to keep it upright and I've never had a problem with spilling.
I also live in Minnesota and it gets pretty chilly here. I spend a good portion of my commute to work walking in frigid temperatures and yet, my coffee is never cold. Today even I was able to make it to 11 am with a warm mug of coffee (which was poured in around 8 am). Even without wind chill advisories out that would be a triumph.
