Scott Genius 740 bike delivers a highly tuneable platform with 27.5 in. (650b) wheels, which offer Goldilocks-like "just right" performance that hits a sweet spot between 29er and 26 in. wheels.

  • Hydroformed and butted 6061 aluminum frame is lightweight and sturdy; geometry has been fine-tuned to maximize suspension performance
  • TwinLoc system provides remote, bar-top control of suspension travel and lockout, letting you customize performance on the fly
  • 3 TwinLoc settings supply full travel front and rear, Ride mode (platform damping that helps eliminate bob), and lockout for both front and rear
  • Fox 34 Float 650b Evolution CTD Air suspension fork has 150mm of air-sprung travel that can be simply adjusted with the 3-mode setting adjustment (Climb, Trail, Descend)
  • Scott DT M3 rear shock has a progressive damping curve, excellent sensitivity and 3 travel modes (full, platform damping and lockout) as well as rebound adjustment
  • Rear shock linkage chip lets you adjust head tube angle by 0.4° to meet your geometry preferences; oversize bearings help keep suspension stiff and responsive
  • Tapered head tube and 15mm front quick-release axle stiffen up the front end for enhanced strength and handling precision
  • Interchangeable dropout system (IDS-SL) lets you switch between rear axle standards (142x12mm, 135x12mm and 135x10mm QR) to further tune and enhance performance
  • 3x10 Shimano drivetrain features XT rear derailleur along with Deore SL shifters and SLX front derailleur for quick, efficient and precise performance
  • Shimano BR-M596 hydraulic disc brakes use a 180mm rotor up front and a 160mm rotor in back to facilitate responsive, progressive braking
  • 27.5 in. (650b) wheels offer similar rolling characteristics and increased traction of 29ers, but with faster acceleration and minimal travel limitations
  • Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance folding tires feature lightweight Kevlar® beads and dual compound composition for solid traction and handling
  • Also included is a chainblocker plate helps protect the frame from dropped chains; can be modified to run ISCG with adaptor (adaptor not included) for 1x or 2x cranks
  • Please note: the Scott Genius 740 full-suspension mountain bike comes with Shimano PD-M505 clipless pedals (cleats included)
  • Specs are subject to change

Scott Genius 740 Bike - 2013is rated4.0out of5by3.
Rated4out of5byfromScott Genuis 740-2013I got mine this summer and have been riding it ever since. I upgraded from a 26", which is still an awesome bike! I was at first skeptical about the whole 29 and 750b thing. I'm a believer now. I consider myself more than just your average rider and have done a few races. I am a better rider with this bike. Not only that but my friend, who also just purchased a Scott Spark (29") says, and I agree with him, "It makes riding more fun!." To be honest I think the whole LRD lockout feature is gimmicky. I hardly ever use it. I bought a full suspension bike for the suspension not to be locked out. If I get up on the road or see an extended climb coming I may click it in. But what i find happens more often than not is I forget to click it out and then I'm essentially riding a hardtail - downhill! It's cool, my two other friends who own Scotts love it but hey to each his own. The components are Shimano Deore which work fine for me. The shifting is very smooth and I love the new thumb shifter that allows you to shift up (to a faster gear) using either your thumb or index finger. The shocks, so far, have performed as we expected. I'm a big guy at 6'2" 230 and this bike fits me very well. Well, I say that but I do feel the top tube is just at the upper limit for me. I think a Large might have been too small but the confidence I have now with the larger tire size, the 3-10 gearing and saddle postion make me a more confident rider.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat bike with functional technologyI've had this bike for about a month and have ridden it ten times or so in a pretty technical trail system. The area has lots of steep climbs and some fast rocky descents. The bike's lock out system for the suspension works seamlessly on all of it. During flats or climbs you flick a switch and you've got a hard-tail and before you let gravity do its thing you open the shocks back up in an instant. Net, works well in many types of riding. I'm very impressed so far and it feels like it has a quality build overall. To help with sizing, I'm 6'1, 175lbs, a 32in inseam and am riding a large frame. The bike feels more like an extra large with the bigger wheels and slightly higher top tube (no real room for error). I think a smaller frame might have worked for me and would have cut a bit of weight while making it feel a little more agile. Something to keep in mind, but I'm completely happy with mine and am very happy with the purchase.

Rated4out of5byfromScott"Do It All" bike.. I use it at China Camp in Marin also Santa Rosa's Annandale Park, works well at both places.. and ive got to say the twin lock system can be very useful although ive been having issues with the lockout for the fox fork but thats ok cause i like to ride plush so just having lockout in the rear is perfect for climbs. Theres really nothing i can say bad about the bike as it works well for what i like to do... RIDE!
