After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Dahon Speed D7 Folding Bike - 2013:

My wife bought this bike for me so we could put it in the back seat of the car when we go on road trips. In the past we have put our bikes on a rack and hauled them on the car. But my wife likes the way our car "communicates with the road" and feels like the rack interferes with the aerodynamics of the drive. She likes it even less when we put the bikes on the rack. So she came up with the idea of folding bikes and spent about a month looking on Craig's List for one for her and one for me. One Saturday I went with her, and the bike was just too small. That same day, she got an e-mail from REI that mentioned this bicycle. And it said it would work for a person who is 6'4" which I am.

This bicycle is awesome! It sat on the backseat of the car and when we wanted to ride I just pulled it out, unfolded it, and rode. The bike handles differently from my regular bike (a Specialized Hard Rock) but once I got used to it, I really enjoyed the ride. The gearing is very comfortable on climbs, flats, and downhills. My wife bought a much less expensive folder(Citizen Tokyo), and she is jealous of this bike. Hers isn't bad, but the gearing isn't as generous and it is a heavier bike.

This bike fits my needs perfectly. It fits easily in the back of the car and it rides like a "real" bike. I don't have to loose cycling fitness just because I am going on vacation. I anticipate sometimes riding it to work. Sometimes riding it just for fun.

Comments about Dahon Speed D7 Folding Bike - 2013:

My wife bought this bicycle for me because she was tired of hauling our bikes on a bike rack when we travel. The bikes mess with the aerodynamics of the car, and since she likes the way our car "communicates with the road" she thought this would be a good compromise. I commute on my regular bike, we go on overnight tours, and we like to explore new places on our bikes when we take road trips.

I am tall (6'4") so finding a folder that is rated ok for a tall person is hard. This bike fits me fine. The gearing is really good in that it climbs well, and does well on flats and downhills. It folds easily once you know how to do it--have somebody show you, the drawings that come with the manual kind of stink. The handling is different from a regular bicycle, but I like it. It's a very versatile bicycle. It was a really good purchase for our needs.
