Rated5out of5byPhotoHikerfromCompact, strong, lightweightUpgraded from prior gear; this packs easier, is much lighter, yet was just as strong as older, thicker, two-piece poles. Best performance to weight ratio of any poles I've ever had. Tested with 2 weeks in MT and another 2 in NM this year over varied terrain.

Rated5out of5byPedro in West LAfromBought another pair for my wifeThese poles are great. The weight on them are perfect. I use them off and on throughout my hikes and the fact their light weight and compact saves space and I don't even notice them when their in my pack.
They worked so well, we went back and purchase a pair for my wife.

Rated4out of5byTrail Ultrarunnerfromgreat until it breaksI have another pair of Black Diamond poles, which work great, but took this on my fastpacking John Muir Trail hike this summer. I wasn't particularly moving fast, but while crossing large boulders over a stream, slipped, fell and without putting much of my skinny 120 pounds on one of the poles, it snapped near the handle. (I run 100 mile trail races over often technical terrain without poles several times a year and would not call myself a klutz.) There were many miles and passes to go. Duct tape from someone coming the opposite direction helped keep it together, but the locking mechanism was also ruined so it would fold often. So while these work great, they aren't very durable. The REI return policy rocks, but I felt so guilty. I am not buying these again; am going for something a little heavier but stronger.

Rated5out of5byDaryl LaffertyfromUnbelievably lightI just completed the John Muir Trail using these trekking poles. I loved them.
They are unbelievably light, yet strong and comfortable. My companions joked that you had to hold them down or they would float away. When I hefted their poles I couldn't believe how heavy they were in comparison. Lifting trekking poles one after another as you hike has a cumulative effect; the lighter the pole the better. I don't think you can do any better than these.
I wore out the plastic tips after about 150 miles and switched to the graphite tips. They still looked new after the remaining 70 miles of the hike.
My only complaint was that the hand strap was barely large enough for my hand to fit through, with the velcro extended as far as it would go. Once I squeezed my hand through, the strap was comfortable and gave good support.

Rated4out of5byThomas ParrinellofromFantastic Poles!I broke these poles in on an overnighter, 18 mile loop in Harriman State Park in NY.
I re-rolled my bad ankle 8 miles in and these poles were nothing short of a life saver. I put them through hell and they essentially carried half my weight the remaining 12 miles back to town.
My only complaint is that the hand straps have shown significant wear and tear for only two days of use.
Otherwise, they are just fantastic!

Rated5out of5byIndyNakfromLightweight and durableThese poles are amazing. I used them on several trips covering at least 30 miles of mountains and some river beds. These poles are suprisingly durable for how lightweight they are. I weigh 170 lbs and usually have a 50 lbs pack. A few times I would be walking and lose my footing and these poles kept me from busting my bum. For only being 10 oz and supporting that much weight, good job black diamond! For anyone going into the mountains where weight is a concern these poles are worth their weight in gold!

Rated5out of5byaroscafromAmazingly lightweight and strongI used these on a 30 mile trek across the White Mountains in New Hampshire after a very rainy week, and they were invaluable on the muddy, slippery trails. They are super lightweight, easy to deploy, and very sturdy. You'll be surprised at how much load (body + backpack) they'll shrug right off, given how flimsy they APPEAR to be. The carbon fiber composite also has just enough give to provide shock absorption.
