Comments about Arc'teryx Alpha SL Hybrid Jacket - Men's:
Great for that deluge. I primarily use it on hikes in the rain and when cycling. The very adjustable hood accommodates my helmet perfectly.

Comments about Arc'teryx Alpha SL Hybrid Jacket - Men's:
I fell in love with the concept of the Arc'teryx Brand, but had trouble justifying the cost. With four kids, I do not spend a lot of money on things just for me. I had a soft shell from Marmot that never fit right, too big in the body and way to tight in the shoulders and arms. This jacket fits like it was tailor made for me. I was worried that it would be too light for Michigan winters, but that proved to be needless fretting. With just a simple fleece mid layer, i am amazed at how warm it feels. It must be the force field of wind stopping technology in the super light weight fabric. With a pack on, the pockets are perfectly placed to be above the hip belt and keeps contents from falling under the belt as well. The hood does take a bit getting used to adjusting for a good fit.
Nitpicking for bummers I can agree that the hood adjustment cords can be in the way a bit, right on the cheeks. The zippers are so well reinforced that they feel stiff under the arms and on the chest, but only notice that feeling once in a great while.
I have yet to wear this jacket with just a shirt, but so far the Arc'teryx Alpha SL is matching up to my expectations and exceeding in how warm it feels.

Comments about Arc'teryx Alpha SL Hybrid Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is great, I have the Beta AR as well, this is a great "meet in the middle" for a jacket that works well in warm weather. The only two thing that I would warn people about is that the blue is actually purple. I ordered it on line and traded it in for the black the next day. The other draw back is that the jacket feels like a plastic bag on the inside where the pro shell reenforced panels are. (shoulders, hips and pockets)
The zippers are great and the pit zips are long and breath well. Breath-ability is not too bad and the jacket can pack so small it will fit in a cargo pocket.
I took this jacket to the high mountains in the fall it got down to the 20's, with a good base layer this jacket was great in the elements. The hood adjustments are the best I have seen, they should add the bill adjustment cord to the Beta AR, the only draw back to the cords is that they are on the inside of the hood by the checks and are a bit of a bother.

Comments about Arc'teryx Alpha SL Hybrid Jacket - Men's:
This is perhaps the best hard shell I've ever owned! I wore this while recently on a trip to Colorado (August 2012) and was amazed with it! It was super wind proof, yet very breathable at the same time. We were hiking between 10,000 and 13,000 feet and wore it to cut the wind at the higher elevations. We even got sleeted on during our descent, and while it wasn't a rain storm, it did show any moisture on it at all. I also was overly impressed that even as we approached the lower elevations that I did not get that soggy, sweaty feeling at all on the inside of the jacket. It did take me some playing around to get the hood to fit just right, but this was the first time I've had so many adjustments to set, I'm sure it is just a learning curve. I'm interested to see how it performs in the Midwest with all of it's humidity, but from my first experience, I would recommend this to anyone!
