The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5byNatural state ClimberfromBest Pack I've owned.I use this pack daily for law school where I have to carry case books and a laptop. It is the by far the easiest carrying, most comfortable pack that I have owned. My only complaint is the waist strap, but I wouldn't use that much anyway.
My old pack was a TNF Surge that had tons of pockets, but wasn't as functional as this one.

Rated5out of5byWish I was OutsidefromPerfect for TravelI spent a lot of time researching bags and I was very pleased with this selection.
I echo all the same 'Pros' as the other ratings. I'm an avid traveler and I was looking for something not only light & durable, but well-built. I needed something I could pack quickly and get going.
The pockets are well placed and eaasily accessible. I have a 15" laptop that stretches into the pocket just fine. I like the side pockets for smaller accessories like chargers and snacks.
Some of the straps seem too long, but not a big deal to me. I also haven't used it in an extreme wet enviornment yet, but it should be fine. I don't plan to take it swimming.
Lastly, it's a great airplane carry-on. Fits well in seat in front of you and easy to access items especially in the strecthable front pocket.

Rated5out of5byOscarfromVersatile CompanionThis is a great all around, multipurpose day pack. It holds a 11-15 inch laptop in a dedicated pocket with ease and has a separate tablet pocket. The zip up side pockets and front access pocket are handy; as is an internal security pocket. The bag is deep and easily adjustable for small and big loads. The carrying system is what you expect from Osprey.
The little nitpicks are the poor location of the MP3 pocket (interferes with laptop)and inability to detach hip belt. A rain cover would have been awesome for bike duty as well.
But overall, this is close to perfect for those who need a school/office/travel/bike/gym/day pack!

Rated5out of5bygeoffrey2011fromGreat for SchoolThis is a perfect pack to get for school. I decided on this one because it had a little bit more room so I could also use it for some longer day hikes. The extra space is also good on long field trips for lab classes. It holds all my books exceptionally well and the shoulder straps are very comfortable and can easily be adjusted. The Osprey guarantee is awesome too, you'll never need another pack for school.

Rated5out of5byVegan JefffromBeen around the world...I absolutely love this backpack. I went to the store to buy a North Face Recon but liked the color of this (Mango)and tried it on. It was infinitely more comfortable. I've used the backpack all over Texas, the West Coast, and even in Japan. It always holds more than I think possible and carries nicely on my back. The laptop compartment doesn't have a lot of padding which as another reviewer points out makes it much more versatile. I have a sleeve for my laptop anyway so I just drop it in the slot in the pack and forget about it. It is the best backpack I've ever had and am very thankful for the lifetime warranty in case anything happens, although it is holding up very well so far.

Rated5out of5byPeace MongerfromGreat Bag!I use this bag mainly for travel and it has been really wonderful. I get tons of compliments on it. I like the size and lightness of the pack as well as all of the pockets. I agree that it's not really ideal for a laptop although I do put my laptop in it and haven't had a problem.. there's just not a lot of padding so I'm careful. Very high quality and worth the price.

Rated4out of5byCliffordGoofromAlmost the perfect bagIt is amazing what having a light back pack makes when commuting. I went from a Targus laptop bag to this bag and it was a real noticeable difference in the weight. It is very comfortable sits on my back well.
I really like the laptop compartment but it does not have very good padding. I recommend having a hard shell or a sleeve on your computer if you are not careful when putting your bag down. The plus side to the lack off padding is that is makes this a great day pack when the laptop compartment is empty.
I love the deep pockets and all the adjustable straps. The long straps can get in the way when not in use. The outer most pocket is a great pocket for keys but the zipper flap gets in the way and may not lend it self to one handed quick access.
Overall the bag is great, large capacity, and light weight. Fits better than any Ogio or Targus bag that I've ever had.
