Light! Bring it all!
Great bag! I bought it as soon as I heard about it. Very lightweight and able to hold a lot. Mine has been through a lot of traveling over the past year and has held up admirably. From routine checked baggage on commercial flights to cargo straps on chartered flights/boats, it has done the job. Green is very easy to identify on the luggage carousel. In response to negative reviews detailing poor quality, this is an Osprey bag. Pay close attention to the "All-Mighty Guarantee" tag that was attached upon purchase. If you have a problem, call Osprey. They are a great company and will either perform a repair, send a new bag, or offer a replacement if you are unsatisfied with the product.
Not particularly durable
I had the same problem with a bent frame after the first use and then subsequent tearing of the fabric on the bottom after the second use that some of the other reviewers had. Osprey has a lifetime warranty so you can send it back for repair/replacement, but I'm not sure that I would buy this bag again. I've only had it a year - for $250 it should last a whole lot longer. My previous luggage (LL Bean) lasted 10 years and is beat up but still going strong.
Perfect!!!!
My fiancé and I just got back from 3 weeks in Europe. We started in Rome and finished in London. During that time we were on and off subways, trains, airports….in and out of hostels and over cobblestone streets. This bag and its little brother the 22" were absolutely perfect. It's lightweight but can hold a surprising amount. We had no problem taking what we needed and still had room for souvenirs. I absolutely recommend this to anyone!
Good, durable, spacious luggage
I own four Osprey packs with hydration bladders and really like those, so decided to get this when I needed a new roller case for business travel. This is not the fanciest case in their line, but it is very lightweight, has ample subcompartments inside, rolls easily, and holds everything I need it to. I check in my luggage, so I do not know if it is an appropriate size to take on as a carry-on item, but I love it for what it does. I have only used it once since buying it, but with Osprey's guarantee and knowing the build quality for their products, I am not worried about it breaking or tearing. This case is intelligently and sturdily designed by a U.S. company. It's five stars in my book.
Lightweight, Roomy & Good to Go
I bought this to go on a 2-week medical mission to south Vietnam. It was by far the lightest bag I found and easy to organize my gear with the pockets. I especially like the small pocket at the top and the magazine one on the back. The bag and frame are very light and the bright green was easy to spot on the carousel. The compression straps on the inside and outside are in all the right spots.
Osprey is too fragile.
First time out, baggage handlers bent frame. It no longer stands up and the zipper is hard to access to open or close.
Needs Updating....
I love the Osprey brand, and associate the brand with high quality, and smart design. I was really excited to take this bag to Europe. As soon as I arrived in Spain, I noticed that the fabric that surrounds the base of the frame was already torn...Really? I am very careful with the handling of my gear, but baggage handlers, probably not so much. I would imagine the base would offer more protection, or at the very least a stronger material that could withstand normal wear and tear for travel. The bag's fabric also felt a little thin when the bag was loaded up. I will likely return the bag and exchange it for something more durable. The light weight of the bag, and the handle's design made the bag very easy to maneuver. It is a great looking bag, but I think the carry-on model is probably a better option since you are likely to have that in your possession and not in the hands of your local or international baggage handler.
Best Customer Seervice
Osprey offer the BEST of the BEST customer service, their ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE is amazing!!! I shipped back my Ozone 28" for a repair, they send me back a new bag as a replacement within a week. No questions asked. Very Happy!
Light, but tough
I bought this a year ago and on my first plane ride with luggage, it started to fall apart on the corners. Very disappointing! It was light, but really not tough. I still like osprey products, but this bag needs resigning.
Light, light, light! Great Luggage
I have been looking for a new large capacity bag, but have been very conscious of weight (esp. for international travel). If you need to keep your luggage weight below 44 or 50 pounds, you don't want to waste 20-25% of it on the luggage itself! This is 2 1/2 pounds lighter than most 'lightweight' luggage of the same capacity, yet it still offers the benefits of smooth-rolling wheels, a comfortable extended handle, and a frame with external compression flaps. There is an interiot mesh pocket inside the front cover and a zippered pocket along each side (one mesh, one solid) to help you sort smaller items. There are also two exterior pockets on either side of the front panel (great for shoes). These are not lockable, but the zipper is well hidden and you can tuck the zipper pulls away so that one would not readily realize that the pockets are even there. My favorite, however, was the exterior pocket at the top. It was a great spot to put things I wanted to be able to grab quickly either when checking in or traveling to and from the airport (not lockable). A covered flap on the back hides your identification tag and there is yet another zippered pocket that would easily hold magazines or flat items. Padded handles for lifting. The only downside I've found is that there is only 1 internal compression strap, so if you want it to hold the load in place, you need to pack so that items run the length of the interior (I had packed items in 2 piles, so the strap fell right between them and held nothing). Thrilled with my purchase and can't wait to add the 22" carry-on to my collection for weekend trips.
