The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5bybchaplinfromVery light roller-bagI got this to use as a carryon for a 2-week international trip. This bag is extremely light. Even packed full, it was not a problem to carry it in the few places where I couldn't use the wheels (going up stairs, onto the train, etc.). It fits well in the JetBlue Embraer overhead.
It holds a lot, but if the bag was available in a 20" configuration, I might have preferred that. I was afraid it might get gate-checked, but on my trial JetBlue flight, this didn't happen. And many of the other bags people were carrying on were much larger.
I can't speak to how well it holds up in the long-term, or if it would survive being checked. However, I have confidence in the Osprey and REI guarantees. The large wheels are great, and in non-airport situations, two wheels are more practical than four. The back, top and front pockets are extremely handy. The top pocket held my "4-1-1" bag and some other toiletry items. An empty purse slid into the back.
In real-life, it is a nice-looking bag, but not as sleek as the photos from the manufacturer. The front of the bag has a slightly 'lumpy' look unless it is perfectly full. After all, it is made up of a thin fabric; it will never be as smooth and neat as a hard-sided bag. However, it has a lot more shape and is easier to handle than a duffel. Overall, I think it's a good compromise in what many types of travelers will want in a carryon.

Rated1out of5byMatobsfromReturned After 1 TripThis bag looks great on paper, and I was looking forward to supporting a CO company as its my home state. Unfortunately, I found numerous problems, so much so I returned the bag, thanks to REI great return policy:
1) The handle is terribly uncomfortable. For anything but the shortest pulls I was constantly readjusting my hand because it splits your fingers. Try putting a broom handle between your fingers and you'll get sense of what it feels like to pull this bag.
2) I doubt the listed specs on its capacity. In practice it is on the smaller side. Packing running sneakers (size 9.5 M), necessary for me b/c I run, took up about 1/4 of total space in the large compartment.
3) Pocket on the back pushes the pull handle into the main compartment eating up space. While the pocket on the back is nice, it's not worth what is sacrificed in space in the main compartment.
4) The weight. You're going to notice to extra few pounds when the bag is full, versus another fully packed bag that is few pounds heavier when empty.
5) The zippers were somewhat difficult to close when the bag was full, because they are contoured with the fabric rather than straight.

Rated2out of5byPrunella224fromFabric at base woreI really really really wanted to say I loved this bag, but the fabric at the base wore out and exposed the frame after 8 months. I sent it in for warranty repair and am awaiting to see if the design has been improved.

Rated4out of5byMandy KfromAlmost Awesome Carry OnFor the most part - I love this carry on. My #1 criticism is that you cannot set another bag on top of it the way you can a classic suitcase because the top is slanted and more like a duffle-bag material. I didn't realize how annoying this would really be until I was lugging another heavy shoulder bag and my ozone through airports and couldn't get reprieve. Also, the inner seam has a plastic inner-lining that came loose and started causing problems after less than a year of frequent but not very extreme use. Fortunately, both REI and Osprey stand behind their products, so I plan to exchange it for a new one. Favorites about this bag is that it is truly so lightweight, and the pockets are great - especially that back "magazine" pocket: it can fit so much and is very, very handy for those last minute things you forgot to include or the ones you want to be able to access easily without opening up the whole bag. I find the top pocket for your zip lock of liquids smart, but it would be nice if the opening were bigger so getting your bag in and out with one hand would work better.

Rated5out of5byNumber cruncherfromGreat lightweight carry-onI've had this bag for about 6 months. I've taken it on several transcontinental flights, on a transatlantic round trip, on regional jets, and on at least a dozen train trips in Europe and the U.S. I've rolled it over cobblestone streets in Italy; gate-checked it in the U.S. It still is in perfect condition, which is impressive for the lightest max size rolling carry-on around. If packed properly, it will hold several days' clothes. The top pocket provides quick access, as does the rear pocket.
I recently added the Ozone daypack, which is not only ideal for travel but also a terrific standalone pack. It's become my go-to bag for daily use.
I do suggest not stuffing the bag to near-bursting. I haven't, and it's held up well.

Rated3out of5byBWCA BoundfromReturned after 1 business tripI liked the design, color, style, etc. of this product and I like the brand in general. However, I returned this luggage after 1 trip (actually returned it at an REI at my travel destination) because of two main reasons:
1) The seam material immediately got caught in the zipper. Not just once, but nearly every time I actuated the zipper.
2) I didn't care for how the lower portion of the main compartment narrows down such that you not only lose capacity, but also the material does not open fully to the bottom of the compartment.
I'd call these more annoyances than design flaws, but just didn't suit my preference.

Rated5out of5byGoldenGopherfromGreat design and super lightweightI've been using this bag as my primary carry-on and there is a lot to like about it beyond light weight.
There is a small zippered compartment on top of the bag that is perfect for holding the "quart sized ziplock clear bag" that the TSA wants liquids in -- so no more fumbling to get that.
The aluminum bar that is part of the base, is perfect for grabbing the bag when you put it into an overhead bin wheels out, so there is less fumbling there as well.
