The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Pack:
This bag replaced a 14-year-old Eagle Creek convertible pack. I wanted something with better organization, better structure, and better shoulder and waist straps. It still needed to be carry-on size and have comparable longevity.
On the plus side, the Osprey is very comfortable when converted to a backpack. The internal frame gives the pack good structure and is easy to wear. It has sufficient room for a week's worth of clothing plus my laptop, charger, camera, and extra lens. Inner and outer compression straps help keep things in place. That being said, I'm a light packers so your mileage may vary. When not in use, the shoulder and waist straps hide behind a zippered cover making it quick to take out and put away. Handles on the side and top as well as a shoulder strap make it easy to manage when moving the luggage in and out of overhead compartments, trunks, etc. There is a small pocked on the top with a key ring and sufficient space to hold your cell phone, passport, and wallet. I prefer bags that come in colors other than black to make it easy for me to pick out my bag at the airport.
There are two minor downsides. First, due to its shape, the pack won't stand upright and has trouble sitting on its side. Usually it will flop over flat when placed on the ground. Second, the laptop sleeve is well padded but located on the outside of the pack. I understand this is to make it more convenient to access your laptop when moving through security, but it throws off the balance of the pack. This is not unique to this Osprey pack, similar packs from North Face, REI, and Eagle Creek all had a similar location. When wearing the pack for a longer time, I had to repack the laptop in the main compartment to distribute the weight better. FYI, my laptop is 14" and weighs a little less than 5 lbs. If you plan on using the shoulder strap, you may wish to purchase a padded one - the included strap is not padded.
The fabric and zippers seem sturdy and rugged. I can't comment on its water resistance since I did not spend time out in the rain. It does not come with a rain cover like the comparable REI pack.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase thus far.

Awesome!
I used this bag as my only luggage on a nine day trip to Peru. The trip included ten flight legs, two train rides, and a couple of hikes. While in the airports I stowed the shoulder straps and used the built in carrying handles, bag easily fits into the overhead compartments. Includes a padded storage compartment for electronics and interior stayed dry in a slight drizzle. Well made, bag still looks new.
