I've had this for about two years now and i love it. i'm somewhat of a flashlight hoarder (i think a lot of guys are) but this may be my favorite because it is relatively light and very bright when you want it to be. highly recommend it for camping/hiking/fishing.

This is a good headlamp at the regular price and an excellent one at the outlet price. It is comfortable and relatively easy to use after a minute or two of playing around with it.
The beam brightness is adjustable to anywhere from blinding spotlight to dim. The multiple lamp types provide flexable usage.

Comments about Black Diamond Spot Headlamp - 2011 Closeout:
After a long night hike around Brookville Lake, Indiana, I realized that I needed a more powerful headlamp than the e-lite I was using. I paid less than $25 for the spot (on sale) and I feel that I got a good deal. I recently used it whilst night hiking in Red River Gorge, Kentucky, and it served me very well indeed. The two adjustable beams are nice. I mainly used the wider and softer beam, which was easily bright enough, although on occasion I used the spot as I did not want to take any chances on the cliff edges. It is very bright.
Bottom line, if I had paid $40 for this headlamp I probably would not have taken the time to write this review, however for less than $25, I do not think you can go wrong.

I got this one on sale and for the price it is an excellent value. The headlamp is very light and decently bright. The interface is very easy to understand and use. I love the fact that it has an infinitely adjustable brightness option. The main beam is fairly bright, unfortunately there is a dark spot in the center of the beam pattern. The flood lights are bright enough for camp and tent activities. At the price point I would recommend this light.

This headlamp has everything I need in a lightweight form. I'm a huge fan of the big feature set: adjustable beams, color (red/white), strobing option, and adjustable brightness.
There's only one button, so getting it into the mode you want is tough to figure out at first (e.g. press quickly three times to strobe), but I expect I'll get used to it soon enough.
As for brightness, it's really really bright. It's almost as bright as my SureFire 6XP Pro, which is listed at 200 lumens.
Overall, this is a great light. I'm so glad I found it!

I've used this headlamp for 5 years or so and been very happy with it. It is very bright on the high beam but bright enough on the low beam which I use to save battery 90% of the time. I take it everywhere I need a headlamp including up Mt Rainier 3 times. It is very light and compact which is perfect for hiking. I'd give it 5 stars but the on/off button can be hard to find sometimes when it's dark, wet, cold, etc.

This light has a few very nice features for Rock Climbing:
- Very bright Spot Light function. Great for hiking-in or lighting the way for your partner even at a distance.
- Low Power Flood is appropriate & adequate for use while you climb.
- Lock in the Off position for storage. This is a MUST for me as I'm tired of digging a lamp from the botom of my pack only to find it on & nearly dead batteries.

Comments about Black Diamond Spot Headlamp - 2011 Closeout:
The Black Diamond Spot has lots of good features packed into a small package at a good price. The spot mode casts a bright beam a surprising distance, which I've used for route finding or to search for a tree to hang up our food at night. The proximity LED mode is great for reading or doing odd jobs around the campsite, and the red LED setting is great for getting up to go to the bathroom at night without blinding yourself or your tent mate.
