This CygoLite ExpiliOn 500 USB bike light packs a mightily bright punch for such a small, lightweight package, and ensures you can see and be seen when out riding trails or to and from work.

  • Superbright LED puts out a powerful maximum of 500 lumens and is paired with precise optics for a beam pattern that's optimized for cycling
  • Aluminum bezel helps protect light and improves durability; weathertight design protects light from inclement conditions
  • Boasts 7 lighting modes: high, medium, low, boost, flash, walking and S.O.S.; run times vary between 1.5 (boost) and 19 hrs. (flash)

      I use this light for commuting at night. I ride through the Burke Gilman trail at night so it is completely dark. It is very bright, that is what impresses me the most about this light. I would be careful though about how often you charge it because once the battery is low, you won't be able to see much, it becomes very weak.

      Helmet mount didn't work very well, I guess it depends on your helmet, its just a velcro strap and you tighten it so it is firmly mounted.

      The different brightness settings are very nice and the flash setting is very helpful especially in rainy days or when you are around traffic so you can be seen. Very bright light.

        We were looking for a small rechargable light for our bikes. We don't cycle at night, but wanted a light that would strobe for daytime visibility. These lights are great-- and plenty bright enough to be visible more than a qurter-mile down the road even on a bright day.

        I tried it out the other night just to see how it worked then. Very bright-- almost like a car's headlight! The battery also lasts a long time between charges-- I think it's good for 19 hours of strobing. Also, the mounting bracket is very well designed (unlike reports I've read of other brands).

            I already had a Planet Bike Beamer on my bike which I purchased with the idea that it would be used basically for visibility, rather than illumination. That turned out to be a good expectation because it basically illuminates the pothole one is about to fall into.

            My wife and I were going to take our first ride through the Snoqualmie tunnel. She had no light, so we needed to do something and I suspected another light like I had would be insufficent.

            I held my breath at the idea of spending $100+ for a light (Made in USA!), but it turned out worth every penny. The beam spreads out just like one would want and was bright enough for both of us to see in the TOTAL darkness of the tunnel.

            I am using two of these for mountainbiking and commuting. I have one on the helmet and one on my bars for the trail and helmet only for commuting. Helmet and bar mounts are secure. Nothing moves. One on the helmet on low is plenty of light for commuting. For the trail I run both lights on low for climbing and medium all other times. Powerful and light weight. Not having cords is fantastic. Being able to swap batteries is a nice feature. Nice lights for a good price. I'm happy.

              I use this light on my MTB. By the time I'm done it's dark and I need a good light. I was surprised at how BRIGHT this light is. I have had many comments regarding the brightness from pedestrians in the opposite direction. This light is enough for safe riding on a dark trail.
