Comments about Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Hat:

I used this hat in a few snowshoeing hikes, including a winter climb to Mt. St. Helens. It is very warm, protects against wind (covers ears), fits well, and as far as I can tell wicks moisture reasonably well too. It is also relatively light and compact.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Hat:

Great warmth. Stays locked in. Bought this hat for our trip to the U.P. - where temps were zero. The hat did it's job of keeping my head warm and it's comfortable where it sits over the ears and down the neck.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Hat:

Purchased my Perignon back in November 2012. I chose the all black version, in size L/XL. I've used the hat in light rain and snow, in temperatures from 10° to 48°F. Never used the hat in winds above 40 MPH. I have a fairly large head, I wear a hat size 7 3/4, and I wear glasses. Why did I chose this particular hat? Cost, and to help block the wind. Plus my ears get really cold when I wear a beanie.

Okay... If you have a big noggnin, like me. The Perignon is giong to feel a little tight, but after a good break in period, it took me a good 4 hours of wear time, the hat does conforms to your head. Also, if you wear glasses, you might feel discomfort from the hat's snug fit. This goes away once the Perignon stretches. You'll also notice sounds are muffled a bit, only because, both of your ears are coverd. It does block the wind from a simple breeze, to winds up to 25 MPH. When I was on top of Browns Peak, the cold winds gusted to 30 MPH, and I noticed a little woosh. So, I just put up my hood, from my hard shell jacket, and everything was fine again.

After rigorous use, and after a couple of washes. I just noticed a couple of threads come loose, also I recommend to use a DWR spray after you wash the hat a couple of times. In light rain and snow the hat does repel water, but if you are in the rain for more than 30 minutes the hat will soak in the water. Also, the Perignon will attract all sorts of dirt and hair, it was kinda bothersome to me, but it might vary with the blue and gray one.

So far, I've been very happy with my Dome Perignon Hat Beanie, it out performs my trusty Carhartt heavy wool hat, and my old REI fleece beanie. I was going to purchase the The North Face Windstopper, but the price and cinch cord was the drawback.
