Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
I used the product as an insulating layer and as an outer layer for high exertion climbs while splitboard touring. After 1 day of wearing an avalanche beacon over it, the beacon straps and unit were already destroying the fabric. After the trip, the shirt looked like I had been worn for quite a long time. I was looking for something similar to the Patagonia R1 shirt. I will be ordering an R1. I wish REI would carry it.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
Quality of this top seems top notch - just what I expect from REI. As others have indicated it is a tight fit in the armpits. I'm 6'1" / 160lbs and purchased a medium. It fits well in both the arms and overall length, but it is snug in the armpits. I wear it either as a baselayer or with a tight fitting underarmor underneath.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
I purchased a medium and returned it. I am 5'7" and always fit in medium tops, but the underarm area was too tight in a medium, so I exchanged it for a large. Strangely, I have the same problem. I decided to keep this one, and I ran a couple of times in it. The underarm hasn't chafed too badly on a 2-mile and 3-mile run, but I am concerned it would chafe on longer runs. I suspect this is why this product is no longer available.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
Looks great, and is super comfortable. Unlike the others the cut in the armpits fits me great. I wear it with a couple of other layers while I go for winter hikes and it feels great with my pack on.
I guess I would suggest trying it on in the store first since the other reviewers have had issues with the armpits, but it's perfect for me.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
I have always had issues with normal long underwear. I feel cold even if I am not.I cannot wear wool so had to look for something that I could use in my different winter activities. Since I run warm I had to have something that breathed, but did not make me feel cold especially when I stopped or am standing in one spot for a period of time, like when I am birding. I love this as I have been out in some below feezing weather hiking, walking and birding and have been tosty warm in this shirt depending on the layers I put over it. I even at times get too warm while hiking, but then I can just unzip and it cools me down without getting cold. If I stop to bird while hiking I do not freeze and feel cold like I used to. I finally found something that worked for me.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
This fleece looks good and because it has a smooth finish on the outside I was hoping it would hold up really well during high activity sports.
It is warm and compfy except for major issue with the armpits cutting in. I have an athletic and not an overly large build. I am thinking of returning this.

Comments about REI Powerflyte Half-Zip Top - Men's:
This shirt looks great and the fleece inside makes it very soft. It's been through a couple washes and has held up fine so far. I can't comment yet on how the material wears during backpacking, etc. There is one major flaw with this shirt, however, and that is the cut of the armpits. They are tight to the point where I can feel the shirt digging into my arm pits. It may be an issue of the placement of the seam being too high.
