Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Edge 2 Tent - Special Buy:
I do a lot of dual sport motorcycle riding and camp off the bike, so I wanted something light, small, with room for my gear. The large vestibule was the first thing that caught my eye with this tent. I've only used it twice, but quickly decided that I made the right choice. The two doors allow you to use one for entry & one for stowing your gear out in the large vestibule. The two clear windows are a novelty, not sure if I like them or not, but great for keeping an eye on weather, surroundings, etc... On the first outing, I timed the setup at 7 minutes. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

This tent did not take up a lot of space in my car, was easy to set up at a campsite and kept me warm and dry

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Edge 2 Tent - Special Buy:
For the price and weight, this is quite a nice purchase. It has much more room inside than most 2 person tents in the same weight range but at half the price.
The tent goes up easily and the vestibules are large and will hold all your gear. The included gearloft is a bonus.
However, due to the fly design, we did have some leaks. The velcro straps on the inside of the fly that attaches to the poles are sewn on then seam tape is put on over that. However, right out of the box, the seam tape was peeling away at that location (imagine taping a pen to the wall, there'll be a gap). Unfortunately, that location on the fly is right above the mesh portion. We decide to spend the extra money and exhcnage for the BA Jack Rabbit SL2.
Despite that, for the price, I'd still recommend this tent if you're on a tight budget or just getting into backpacking.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Edge 2 Tent - Special Buy:
Out of the box, the tent was obviously not the same color as shown in the ad or on the tent packaging itself. That tan/gold combination is NOT what you'll get, you'll receive the 'Sage/Coal' as listed but not shown.
It's a dark fly with a dark floor, not light with a medium floor.
It's also undersized, roughly 5" narrower and 2" shorter if I recall correctly.
Good for one person or a couple. Well built, sturdy poles, full fly.
I needed more width and a lighter-colored tent.
Service and delivery comments:
Normal delivery, took over a week but for no charge I didn't expect it overnight!

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Edge 2 Tent - Special Buy:
We used this tent for 8 days backpacking thru the U.P. last July. Easy to setup & strike and it has all the features: adjustable vents, 2 large vestis, window/screen in both doors, just like 2p tents that cost 3X as much. The second night out, a big thunder storm rolled in off Lake Superior. We were snug and dry all night. The weight and packed size are as good as it gets for a 2p tent with these features. A great value.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Edge 2 Tent - Special Buy:
First of all, this is a good tent. I have taken it on only one camping trip with the Boy Scouts and it really is a nice tent for one person. I am 6'6" and it is a decent fit when I lay down diagonally. It has great ventilation and the tent stayed cool because I was able to open up the rain fly and the adjustable ventilation. It apparently rained during the night and the only reason I knew is that the foot of my sleeping bag was damp when I woke up in the morning, but I also didn't have the rain fly fully extended on the ends. However, after that one trip I will be taking the tent back for one reason only, at each end of the rain fly there is a clear plastic window that can't be closed or covered. It is nice to be able to see out, but bad because anyone can see in, especially when getting dressed, which is awkward. Over all it is a nice tent, if you do get it, I highly recommend getting the footprint for it because the floor seems a little thin. If it weren't for those windows, it would definitely be a keeper.

The stuff sack is for a larger size tent. Defeats the purpose if your trying to stuff it in your pack. Pretty stupid

I have used this tent 2 times camping. It is easy to set up, but I haven't gotten a chance to test out its waterproof-ness. What a great deal from REI!
It's a little bit cramped for 2 people and gear, but it's ok if you're sleeping close to each other. ;-)

Wanted a decent 3 season tent and price & specs drove me to this tent. Will update comments as I use it.
