The Perception Carolina 14.0 kayak offers easygoing performance and enough capacity for long trips.

  • V-shape hull with soft chines makes the Perception Carolina 14.0 kayak stable and easy to paddle
  • Upswept, flared bow improves handling while crossing rough water
  • Rigid polyethylene hull withstands years of use without the need for maintenance
  • Zone DLX seat features a foam-encased pocket that cradles the lower back
  • Seat back adjusts forward and backward, up and down, and leg lifters offer additional support if needed
  • Backrest may be raised by pulling strap in front of seat forward or by pushing the button on front of seat to lower
  • Leg lifters raise seat pan to increase support and take pressure of the ankles
  • Knee pads allow you to place knees inside cockpit or outside without discomfort
  • Great for day trips or overnights, the 10 in. bow and oval stern hatches provide access to dry storage space for fishing supplies, picnic staples and camping gear
  • Dual-density hatch covers are stiff and durable, yet their soft, flexible edges make them easy to use; plus, they form a tight seal to keep contents dry
  • To seal hatch cover, simply catch the lip under the rim and press it on like the top of a rubberized food-storage container
  • Deck rigging on bow and stern lets you stash items you'll want readily available such as a bilge pump, extra paddle and map with weatherproof case, not included
  • Reflective perimeter deck lines increase safety by boosting visibility, and they provide a firm handhold to get back into kayak after a wet exit
  • Soft-to-the-touch carry handles at bow and stern make trips from the water easy; unlike hard, plastic handles, the soft-touch handles are easy on cold, paddle-weary hands

Made in USA.

Comments about Perception Carolina 14.0 Kayak:

I bought this as my second kayak. My first is a 12 foot, 21 pound kevlar kayak or pack canoe(Placid Spitfire) purchased for used on small Adirondack lakes and streams where easy entry/exit, light weight for portaging, and maneuverability are important. However, my first boat is easily marked by rocks and is not suitable for large lakes or ocean estuaries.

Although weight was a consideration in purchasing my second boat, I was most concerned with a boat better suited to larger lakes/rivers and not as easily marked by encounters with rocks or rough handling. Other considerations were ease of entry, tracking, stability, and value. After trying several kayaks I decided the Carolina 14 without the optional rudder best fit my needs and wallet.

The Carolina 14 has met my expectations. I am especially pleased with comfort, easy of entry/exit, stability, and tracking. Of course it is less maneuverable than my 12 footer and it is much heaver. I use a Malone car-top carrier on an SUV. The Malone has a feature that is supposed to work by lifting the boat up to the carrier and then sliding it over the base of the carrier. Alas the Carolina has two groves in the bottom of the boat, (intended to assist in tracking) that get hung up when I try to slide it into place. I suspect this would not be a problem if my car was shorter, I was taller, or I was 20 years younger.

All in all, I am satisfied with the purchase. It meets expectations.
