this camera is awesome! i've taken it scuba diving & on tons of vacations, my boyfriend has recorded video from his motorcycle, etc. i noticed that the still pics can be a little grainy but the video is amazing. i took video at about 45 ft on a dive and the quality was still amazing, the battery life is great too, this was such a great gift.

This little camera is amazing. As long as you either use it for video recording, or use a tripod when shooting photos, you will be satisfied. Because of its small size, the photo option is only clear when using a tripod, but this is a video camera primarily.

Use it as helm/leg/harness cam while paragliding.
Excellent, except for these:
Wind/Contact noises transmit VERY sharply to the internal mic through the casing.
Does not do well in highly contrasted light conditions - shady sides of the mountains are pretty much black if I'm up in the sunny sky
The lens fogs up after 30 min of run-time in non-vented casing
Can't make a continuous 1080 file longer than 34min (FAT32 file size limit)
Battery life is OK...... just OK....< 2 Hours...

Love this little camera. You can stick it just about anywhere and get action shots. My only gripes are that you can go broke just buying accessories for it, and the tiny LCD screen and two button interface is a bit clunky to change settings, but it is what it is.

I borrowed the HERO1 from a buddy and after a short bit of use I couldn't pass up the sale for the HERO2. Durable enough for my 3 year old to run around with it and me not worry. So many attachments and extra goodies just means I need a camera bag, even though that kind of takes away from the compactness of the camera. Wide angle is just a fish eye lense, which is really noticeable for close shots, but not for distant shots. I think the only drawback so far is the battery life. 2 batteries, both died around 1.5 to 2.5 hours each, including standby time. Maybe I just need to learn to utilize the features better. This isn't a Hollywood studio professional grade camera, so don't expect it to be. GO BUY ONE!

I use this product when I go surf casting or skishing. I bought it to be waterproof because I am constantly in or on the ocean and I wanted video capability as well as pics. I do most of my fishing at night so it makes it hard to use this unless I apply external lighting which is not always possible and very limited range. There are some small changes I would like to see to make the camera easier to use and to identify different accessories better. But it has done the most important job and that is to take waterproof video. Also, the sound function could be improved upon when using the submersible case

Easy to use, sharp image and durable. Great price!

The trade-offs are substantial however. The Go Pro doesn't shoot great in lowlight, and the audio is absolutely terrible. Encoding is bad enough before enclosing the camera in the plastic case/mount, which muffles everything. The Hero2 has a port for an external mic, but inexplicably the case covers the port, so you can't use an external mic while the camera is mounted, unless you drill a hole in the case thus destroying its water proof capacity.

Go Pro could fix all of this by providing buyers with two cases (water proof and otherwise) instead of just two backdoors without anyway to add a decent mic.

I bought the GoPro2 just before taking a cruise to Alaska and used it ziplining in Juneau, canoeing in Ketchecan and it worked great except make sure after you charge it is completely off. Disconnect form charger, turn it on then turn it off. As a first time user I didn't know it was still on, so when it am time to use it, I did not have a complete charge and unable to take full advantage to the time. It was a little difficult to know it the camera was truly on when place on top of my head if didn't ask someone, 'cause I couldn't see the record light. Other than that, it worked well and took wonderful movies of the events I shot. I highly recommend it!
