Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

I use this product for riding in Washington state extreme mountain environments. I have smacked this against trees rocks and have overall abused it. Beyond what most people do to their gear. In fact my water bladder was run over by a 250lb motorcycle. No leaks and works just as good as the day it was bought. A+ in my book!If you are worried about the durability of this product dont. Its the best out there.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

I purchased the 1200 hydration pack system but first I want to say that I was very impressed after emailing Geigerrig requesting additional fittings to configure a quick disconnect for my filter assembly an immediate reply plus a personal phone call from Bob Geigerrig following up on my intentions to see if he could help out in any way not only did Bob help me he sent out the parts I needed at no charge to me plus he paid for shipping! I was amazed at his persistence in making sure I got what I needed and I even received a follow up call to make sure the fittings arrived and where what I needed!

I researched this particular pack system thoroughly before purchasing and I am impressed with the engineering and quality of the build. The hydration engine is built tough and almost bullet proof, I suggest heading to youtube to view some of the Geigerrig videos on how to position the valve fittings to ensure prevention of accidental valve release.

I was tired of filtration devices that add additional weight and bulk plus the intense cleaning of the filters after each use! Geigerrig's filters are easy to connect to my hydration engine as I always carry two with me and is more than enough for a week at a time.

This is an American company with customer service being a number #1 priority and providing top notch gear in my experience and I will definitely use Geigerrig hydration packs for all my ventures!

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

I have a 700 pack that comes with this system and it has made my other hydration packs completely obsolete. With my old ones I would load up on water and then carry it around for an entire hike or a full day snowboarding and barely touch it because you have to slow down and steady your breathing to use it and the mouthpiece would be covered in dust or frozen. Since this unit sprays, you can use it on the move, share it with a friend or spray yourself with it to cool down. One of unexpected surprises I discovered was first aid, it cleans a wound with fresh water and it can spray the dirt or dust out of your eyes. I will order the virus filter and possibly some of the other filters that they offer soon and save myself some serious weight on my trail setup by too.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

I've purchased and returned two of these. I bought the first one to use on day hikes, and I really loved it a lot. It's easy to fill and the squirting tube is extremely handy, whether your using it to rinse your hands, cool your head down, or annoy your hiking companions. However, after only using it on maybe four hikes and after leaving it in the trunk over night, the seam on the hydropack separated, spilling all of the water and soaking everything in my pack. So I exchanged it for a new one. This time, the thing only lasted through two hike before getting a small hole. I don't know what caused the hole, probably something sharp and pointy, but I expected more durability, especially considering how Geiggerig advertises this thing as bomb-proof.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

I purchased the 100oz (3L) version of this reservoir from REI because I tend to drink a ton when I hike. My old hydration reservoir was difficult to use when I needed it most, i.e., when I was gasping for breath on steep sections of trail. The hydration engine solves the problem. By pressurizing the reservoir, the Geigerrig allows you to drink without sucking on the tube. Just bite and the water squirts into your mouth, leaving you free to continue to suck wind and hydrate at the same time.

In addition, the pressurized system allows you to direct a stream of water wherever you want it (into a cook pot, on your toothbrush, on your hiking buddy's back) where a regular reservoir would be useless. It's a sweet gig to have a source of clean, running water in camp.

Finally, the bite valve is, in my opinion, a significant upgrade from other valves I've used. With other valves, you have to get them at the right angle when you bite them or you can't get water out. The Geigerrig bite valve is omnidirectional. Put it in your mouth and bite. No fiddling is necessary.

The only issue I've had with mine so far is that it makes more noise than my other reservoirs. I think it's the air in the chamber that ampifies the sound of sloshing water (kind of like a drum). This seems most pronounced when the bag is less than half full. I'll have to work with the air pressure and fill level to see if I can eliminate the noise. But I'll gladly tolerate a little noise given the huge upside to this reservoir.

In summary, the Geigerrig is a huge step forward in hydration reservoirs. The pressurized flow, excellent bite valve, and bombproof construction make this system well worth the extra cash.

Comments about GEIGERRIG Hydration Engine Reservoir - 68 fl. oz.:

Initially the Geigerring appeared overly complex for the hydration systems I was used to, but upon review it is not complex but quite brilliantly designed. The quick disconnects of the tubes from the bag are genious. This system solved my problems with the other brand of hydration pack I owned, with the Geigerrig it is; easy to clean the inside of the bag buy creating a simple way to access inside the bag from the top. Also my other brand bag was prone to popping off tubes, the fill cork, or bite valve during use at unideal times and losing precious fluids where the Geigerrig has a solid design that in all access ports to the bag making it virtually leak-proof.
The Geigerrig Hydration Pack was designed very well and now I have got to find opportunities to flaunt its ability to have pressurized water when out hiking. I will have to get used to the Pressure Squeeze ball on the pack that looks like a Blood Pressure Cuff squeezer.
