Rated4out of5byfromOverall pretty descentMy old headlamp was beginning to bite the dust so researched around. Settled on this Black Diamond. Overall so far satisfied with it. Like many other have stated, it is a little bulky. But I can't downgrade on that too much because I knew that before getting it. Straps stay snug, comfortable, and stays in place on your head. Haven't used it on my climbing helmet yet to see if that is still the case. After wearing it a little while you kinda forget there's a big battery pack on the back of your head anyways. I like the fact that it always turns back on to the last mode (dim, bright, red light, so on) that you turned it off in, rather than having to cycle through all the stages every time you turn it back on. So far I've used it around the house and a few job sites (subcontractor) and working on vehicles. The battery pack is super easy to put batteries in, it also locks and seals very well. Haven't submersed it yet and avoiding that if possible, but seems like it's water-tight. This summer I'll put it to use more camping, climbing, and hiking and hopefully it will still continue to satisfy. Giving it 4 of 5 because I feel like the design could be bettered slightly though.

Rated5out of5byfromI am impressed.I got this headlamp as a recommendation for skiing at night. I find it to be a great light for back country skiing. It has multiple setting and the brightness of each one is adjustable. I tend to use the red light for skinning/hiking up a mountain, and the high beam at its brightest for skiing down. It is bright enough to give you confidence and save your joints and muscle from constant tension of unknown bumps/rocks. I actually like the detachable battery pack because I wear it under a jacket and the battery stays warm close to body heat.

Rated5out of5byfromThis is the ONE!Don't waste your time and money on any other headlamp. Purchased yesterday--and I saw a coyote running in the snow at 5:30 a.m. this moring near Tahoe with this headlamp about 300 feet away. Their eyes light up like fire! I mean--what else is there to say for the avid Sierra, Grand Canyon or Utah desert hiker? AND--you can use lithium batteries and save about an ounce. Fantastic all-in-one headlamp.

Rated5out of5byfromAwesomeThis is great for long walks when its dark. The dim setting is helpful to see when taking shorter trips and the bright light is perfect for long trips, hiking and for trips with my dogs. It really makes it easy to see your surroundings.

Rated5out of5byfromBest Headlamp I have ever used.I have used this light camping, setting up decoys in the field and any time I need additional light to complete a task. Daily, I wear the headlamp while walking the dog at night (or early AM). Allows us to spot slick spots, provides a sense of security and alerts car drivers that we are present. Great safety tool.

Rated1out of5byfromoverweight and underpoweredthough this headlamp has as strong spot, it's reach is the same as the old icon. 4 batteries makes it too bulky for climbing unless attached to a helmet, and the low power led's are too weak for normal use. the old icon had better low power coverage and strength. the lowe power led's are also very soft and produce a flat image of the environment making difficult terrain harder to navigate than the old icon.

Rated4out of5byfromBright Light, Bright LightIf you want a headlamp that can really throw some light down field, this headlamp is for you. Multifunctional and eminently adjustable to meet your variable light needs. Not for you ultra-light backpackers though.

Rated5out of5byfromCover Your Eyes, She's a Bright OneI used this first on a hunting trip in Northern WI. The 200 lumen is more than enough to see well into the woods and across a field. The flood version is great too for saving battery and having your peripheral covered. The red light is a nice feature if you don't want to dialate you pupils - if you are going to be shutting it off and adjusting your eyes to the dark. I will certainly be using it on most camping trips, but will use the Storm Headlamp for backpacking (100 lumen sister of the Icon) since it is ligher/doesn't have the battery pack. This is exactly what I expected and hoped for. A great buy for anyone who spends time outdoors at night.
