Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
Took them to Ouachita for the first time. Handled the steep hills like crazy. These guys are super stiff (more so than Leki carbons) and the Flic Locks work very well. Never had any slippage, even when they were wet. The cork grip is really comfortable and hasn't given me blisters and always feels dry and secure. Even the wriststraps are comfortable and moisture wicking.
I also used them to set up my BD BetaLight, and they worked perfectly, even in pretty high winds

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
I've had these trekking poles for a couple of months now, and they are great so far. I've taken them out snowshoeing and hiking multiple times, and they're lightweight, stiff, and easy to use.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
I hiked the Trans Catalina trail over the holidays and had heard people recommend trekking poles. I hike a lot of fairly steep front country trails but had never tried poles. Since this was my first backpack trip in a quite while, I gave these a try. I loved them. Just the right amount of knee relief on the steep uphills, steadiness on the downhills and through the very muddy areas - of which there were many. I was also happy to find that when passing close by the humungous bison on the trail the poles were not seen as a weapon. ;-)

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
First off, I had to write this review because I am so impressed with these poles. I bought them before setting out on a gnarly backpacking itinerary in Denali National Park. Almost every single contact these poles had with the ground resulted in a collision with solid rock or unforgiving surfaces.
5 days of unimaginably brutal terrain did not stress or break these poles. The friend I backpacked with (who lives in Denali) uses the same poles. He said "These are the only poles I've used that have ever survived more than one trip into the Denali backcountry."
These things were champions during steep scree ascents and descents, and saved my butt a few times while crossing glacial rivers. Oh, and they are super light, too!
In this case, one gets what one pays for. If you're serious about hiking in rough areas, pick these up. You will thank yourself many times over.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
So light and so bomber in construction.... these are simply the best poles on the market currently. The grips are comfortable and the locking mechanisms are simple to use with gloves. The price is steep compared to other options BUT I have yet to get one of these to collapse or fail and I often forget I'm carrying the weight of the poles.

There are three things I love and almost always take into the backcountry with me:
Asolo TPS boots, Jetboil stove and my Black Diamond Carbon Trekking poles. There are fantastics and worth the money. NO vibration, extremely light weight and durable. Worth the investment.

I purchased these poles for my son and he used them on his first solo hike into the high country for a weekend. He loves them and was very glad he had them - said it made the hike much more enjoyable. He said it was the best thing I could have given him.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
I've been using trekking poles for about 15 years; hiking on mountain trails or just walking about the neighborhood for exercise. I'm in my 60's and I've found trekking poles save my knees, help with stability and give my upper body a workout. These poles are far and away the best I've used. Bought them using my REI dividend a couple months ago and have put in about 60 miles using them so far. Extremely light, easy to adjust, they don't slip or collapse, grip is comfortable and secure and, what I especially like is, they are really, really quiet .. no rattling like my former twist models. Well worth it!

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
Very light poles. These are extremely stiff. I use mine as trekking poles, as well as my single tent stake. My only complaint is that they scratch easily, even just from closing and opening them up. Scratches aren't deep and shouldn't affect performance, but the poles will most likely lose some aesthetic appeal after a few uses.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - Pair:
First Impression: Let's face it. It's the price tag. They're up there in price, no doubt. It's why it took me as long as it did to pick up a pair of these. They are expensive, and that's a big turnoff.
Second Imprssion, and every impression thereafter: Like the title says, you get what you pay for. Pay a premium price, get a premium product.
This is one solid set of trekking poles. Everything is built like a tank on these things, and they weigh next to nothing. The cork grips are great, and I'm really glad they went with the extra lower grip as well. The lever lock is the only thing I'll use nowadays. It works, it holds, it's never failed me. The flex and shock absorption is incredible as well. I can lean on these bad boys as hard as I want, and while they may bend a bit, they don't break.
And the reason I actually purchased this particular set of poles is the absence of vibration on impact with the ground. None. It's a solid plant, no shaking, no flexing. Even for a big guy like me.
This set of poles comes highly recommended from me, without any reservations.
