    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Pacsafe Metrosafe 350 GII Daypack is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 11 Countries and Counting... I have shown off this backpack to countless people in person, so I might as well brag about it to many more on the web. As a 5'2" woman, a lot of backpacks tend to look ridiculously oversized on me, but this fits perfectly. It is also sleek enough to wear in first class and still appropriate for day hikes on the trail. As for capacity, when I loaned it to one of my sisters, another sister and she laughed hysterically as I seemed to endlessly pull everything out of it. They couldn't believe all that I had managed to fit inside. It is like the clown car of backpacks and holds far more than you would think it could. Most importantly, the safety features are superb. I've worn this all over West Africa, Eastern Europe, the UK, and the Middle East, and I have felt completely safe. A couple friends got scanned in Ghana and had their credit card information stolen, but thanks to the RFID-blocking panel, I did not. Not having all your stuff stolen on vacation is pretty huge. It has worn really well. As another reviewer said, the straps can get a wee bit twisty with time, but it's not anything too noticeable, and it's easily adjusted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from proved NOT to be color fast on rainy day I used this bag during a three week trip to Europe recently, when I was concerned about pickpockets or folks scanning the RFID data on my credit cards. The bag worked well, though the security features took time to learn, and also to engage and disengage each time. Nothing was stolen from the bag; no credit card data was compromised. The big problem, I belatedly realized, was that on a day of steady rain in the coastal Cinque Terre area in Italy, the bag got wet and then the black color transferred to the shoulder and upper back areas of my expensive synthetic travel shirt. Unfortunately, I did not detect the large gray smudges until time came to wash my shirt. By that time, a second expensive shirt had been smudged, though not nearly as badly as the first one. After I got home, extensive and repeated stain removal and laundering efforts have mostly gotten rid of the smudges. But, not wanting to risk ruining any additional clothing, I returned the bag to REI for a refund. I decided not to exchange the defective bag for another Metrosafe 350 because I was afraid a replacement bag might also NOT be color fast. I would advise prospective purchasers to think twice about buying this black bag, until the manufacturer addresses the color fast issue. I don't know if this was a problem with one bag or one contractor only, or if all of these bags have the same problem if they get really wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Land Pilgrimage I purchased this product for an 11-day trip to Israel for a Holy Land pilgrimage. I was going on this trip so that I could help my mom (she has difficulty getting around due to her bad knees). My plan was to carry as much as I could so that she didn't need to carry anything. I saw a video review of this product, and it made the product look large. When I first received the product, I was initially disappointed by how small it looked. I decided to use it on the trip anyway. The product was practically my wallet for the entire trip and never left my side. I kept my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1), phone, wallet, passports, and point-and-shoot camera in the product. I used the two side pockets for water (one side for my mom, and the other for myself), with two extra water bottles inside. I also carried other stuff like our prayer/song book, first aid kit, and other travel accessories (hand sanitizers, etc). I would also stuff souvenirs inside. I surprisingly never ran out of space, even though we were on the tour every day (ie: I couldn't go back to the hotel room to unload stuff until the end of the day). The hidden hooks to hold the zippers closed was quite useful. Even though I trusted them, my mom was wary. I used a luggage lock on the zippers to appease her. The only bad thing that I can see with this product is that I'm tall, so this backpack looks weird on me (in my personal opinion). I would have preferred it to be larger, but then again, it might have led us to buying more souvenirs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great backback It is a safe and secure backpack that is basic, which I like. The anti-RFID design protects you from identity theft if you have RFID cards, such as the enhanced drivers license or passports. Even some credit cards now have RFID. It's large enought to fit a tablet and a camera, with room to spare. Comfort wise it doen't beat my camel back hiking back pack, but that's not the purpose of this bag. This bag is a security bag to keep unwanted hands from pilfering your items. It does a good job at that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will Get Another One I am very fond of this bag. I love its capacity: I use it to port my iPad, What I have been very pleased with is the fact it is very low profile. I like that I can hang out in urban areas and feel less vulnerable because the bag isn't designed to stand out in a crowd, shouting out to thugs to rob me. I also have been using the clip feature on the strap, hooking on to chairs and stuff in cafes, having peace of mind that someone isn't going to be able to casually lift it. I also have the Pacsafe folding wallet that comes with a chain attached. I have used the clip to hook it onto the key clip in the bag, so I always know where it is and that it won't just "walk off." The bad news: I am very disappointed that one of the seams holding a zipper broke, leaving one side of the zipper unusable. Of course, since this happened the bag is no longer 'Pacsafe." I would not use this in a crowd as it seems obvious that the bag is broken. I bought the bag in late December 2012, so it has been in full working order for only 10 months. But, because of its other great features and the other quality Pacsafe items I own, I have backordered another one and will return this one to REI for a refund. I would go through withdrawal pains if I can't get my new pack soon!
