Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I'm an assistant scoutmaster with a troop in Virginia. The temperature is generally pretty mild (with a few really cold nights). I took this pad out for the second time this past weekend and I was extremely pleased. Temperatures were cold, but I was snug as a bug all night long. This pad is easy to inflate and packs down really nicely.
The only problem I had was that i was on a slight incline and had to reset myself a couple times in the night because i'd slip down, but that's not so bad considering all the positives.
I'm still waiting to report on its durability until I take it on some more trips, but it's made of good materials and I have no doubt that it will stand the test of time.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
You won't get a better pad for the price. After spending a good amount of time in a REI store laying on pad after pad, I had it narrowed down to the Big Agnes Q Core. I wanted to sleep it over (no pun intended) before purchase. When I went back on line I saw this, looked over all the specs, and realy liked the larger tubes on each side to keep you on the mat in the night. I ended up with this pad, and I will never look back.
This pad feels durable, and has been dog tested. My dog's nails don't even phase this pad. It holds air as it should, and is easy to get to your comfort level. I am a side sleeper, and this pad removed the normal hip "hot-spot" that I get on a closed cell foam pad.
Comfort at this price can't be beat. Treat yourself to this pad, you will sleep so much better for it.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I had my mind set on a 2.5" Big Agnes mummy pad to replace my 1.5" Thermarest when I walked into REI. Afer being told about this pad at the store and checking the specs it seemed like a no-brainer to get this pad instead. It was slightly lighter, is made with a little sturdier material and was cheaper.
I'll give it the true test on a couple of warm-up hikes before our next AT section hike. I have tried it out at home and it feels great! The rectangular shape is nice because of the extra room around your feet when laying on your side.
The included stuff sack is a plus and it's easy to fit the pad back in the sack after deflating it. It packs up so small it's half the size of my 1.5" Thermarest when packed up. The larger tubes on the outside edges of the pad are also nice and helps to keep you on the pad.
If you are a side sleeper or just want great support without breaking the bank then this pad is for you. Great job REI!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
Very nice pad. Easy to inflate and deflate. Was comfortable and I sleep on my side. I wish it was a little lighter and a lot smaller to pack. The thing is almost as big as my sleeping bag!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
this is a great product. i went in looking at the foam core, selfinflating pads from thermarest since i'm a princess and was planning on car camping for the trip i was going on. i was replacing a cheap air mattress. the sales guy told me to check out the stratus, since he was also a side sleeper and a bigger guy like me. not to mention, it's half the price of the thermarest i was looking at. thanks to the well designed nozzle, you can really get this thing full of air and rather firm. i slept just as well on this as i do at home. i can't recomend it enough. great product and i am very pleased.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
Great price for Air Pad that is soooo lite and so big and thick. Only negative is having to manually inflate but every time I blow it up it goes much faster than I anticipate based on how large this pad is so it's just minor negative.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
It wasn't quite warm enough for near freezing nights. Found myself up and turning because my down side was chilled. Otherwise I really like the pad for its ease of use, lightweight, quietness, and I didn't feel like I slid on it.
Trying another with a higher R value.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
Great piece of gear. Took this out to Red River Gorge last weekend and had an amazing night of sleep even at 35 degrees. I've never been more comfortable in the backcountry. This pad will be going with me wherever I go from now on.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
OK, so it's not my bed at home, but what a great sleep this gives for the pack size. When I got this I was utterly amazed at how small the pack size was event though I watched the video on it and saw it packed - I almost thought they sent me the wrong size it was so compact! I ordered the large for the luxury of 5" of additional width - since I'm primarily a car camper I wasn't seriously thinking of pack space. That being said I do fly to many of the National Parks and car camp there. All of my gear needs to fit into one 27" pullman and this definitely will squeeze in with no problem. I've been using the Luxury Lite cot which is about 3x as much as this, though there's never a concern about the Luxury Lite springing a leak - I may use this on top of my Luxury Lite and then it probably will be about as close to my bed at home as I'll be able to get.
I think with careful use it will last a long time - I'm thinking of making a custom cover for it out of a very light fleece to give it some protection from pebbles or other small things that could potentially puncture it - something along the lines that Thermarest does with a custom sheet.
It packs up nicely and there's plenty of room in the bag - I was able to put my REI air pad patch kit in it too (though I didn't seem to see this color patch in the kit, but just about every other color - kind of would have liked this color - oh well).
Good product, quick delivery - good job, REI!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
After one use, I like the pad except for the inflation style. While it is easy to blow up, I did not at all like how hard it was to get it firmer.
Once you get it pretty well blown up and then try to get it nice and firm, it is SO hard to inflate. The pressure inside just blows right back into your mouth.
This might just be me, but that is so frustrating that I am considering returning it for the Exped UL7 (the only other pad I have been considering) even thought it is twice the price.
The pad was comfortable and I had no issue with slipping. It packed small and tight and the R-value and weight were pretty much on par with the UL7.
I will most likely use it a few more times before making a final decision, but I just wanted to share my experience, as this pad is new, so others can get a feel for it.
