Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
I bought this bag to use for winter bivs. I am a member of a search and rescue group and we need to be prepared to 'shelter in place' in any weather. Although I hope I don't have to do this, I need to be prepared for it. Thus, I am not an avid backpacker that is willing to shell out big $$ for a bag when I hope it won't get much use, I want to be comfortable if I do. Thus, it is a decent balance between warmth and weight. I have tried it one night when the temp was about 30F and was very comfortable.

Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
I bought this for a trip to Colorado to climb some 14ers. It worked great in March, but we had 4 people in a 3 man tent so it may not be a good test. You could make it work in winter with a bivvy sack. Good bag for the money.

Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
Did an overnight backpack trip with 15 degrees outside and cold windy, wet snow. Tent was probably 30 degrees since water didn't freeze much. Bag was warm and roomy, and the bit of moisture on the bottom and insides of the tent didn't affect the insulation much. I'm a pretty lean guy so there was extra room. I never felt constrained, which besides warmth, was the most important characteristic for me.

This is a very decent sleeping bag. It held up well during the winter season in Yosemite and on the Inca trail. No complaints.

Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
So far this is a great sleeping bag. I've had it down to 21°F and was perfectly comfortable. You have to remember though that no sleeping bag generates heat, it just traps it. So do some prep before getting in the bag and it'll perform perfectly. The only issue I have is with the zipper getting stuck. Otherwise, it's a very comfortable bag. I like the roomier toe box and everything that I adjust stays there for the whole night. For the price, it's a quality bag.

Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
Thank you Marmot for making a WIDE bag!
I'm a big guy with broad shoulders, 6' 250lbs, and I hated trying to stuff myself into a narrow bag, that then compresses the insulation and makes me cold and uncomfortable.
I also like to be able to role over when I sleep and this bag gives me the room I need. I love Backpacking/Hiking in the fall and into the winter, I've had this bag in temps down to 24 deg. with no problems.
In the gear I have bought, Marmot = Quality.
I wouldn't say it's the smallest to pack or lightest to carry, but it is worth it. Once you've hiked all day, a good nights sleep is hard to replace.
I liked this bag so much, I heard they were going to make changes to the Trestle line, so I bought a spare bag just to have another, thankfully they kept the WIDE Trestle.
REI had trouble getting this bag for awhile and actually shipped the bag from another store (not close) to my store because it was the only one avalable, Thanks REI. Thats awsome customer service!
Draft coller is good and I also like the short zipper on the other side to vent the bag and pull it back. The main zipper can stick at times but that could be me?
I have several friend that have also bought this bag and love it.
My hope is that they will make this WIDE bag in a 0 or -20 degree in the future, Please!!!

Sleeping Size:
I bought the long for my 6' skinny frame thinking the regular would be crowded. Not the case. Way too much room in the long and you can feel it in the extra dead cold space. This is obviously no fault of the bag.
Packing Size and Weight:
I feel like this thing is a little too big, though it is rated at 15F, and a bit heavy. Personally, I think I'm going to switch to a bag rated at higher temps and just wear layers if needed (since I carry these anyways).
Warmth:
Used this in below freezing. Though I had no thermometer, due to the collected snow, I want to say it was maybe 15-20F or so. Wearing long polyester tops and bottoms the bag kept me warm (and inside a 3 season tent) though I wouldn't say cozy. Easily gets hot, maybe around 50F or so.
Other:
Zippers snag a little at times, just like every other bag. Compression sack rocks! Cinches around head very nicely.
Overall:
Personally, I'd go with the regular and, unless it's used for only near or sub freezing conditions, subsitute a warmer climate bag paired with a liner to layer it and save some pack space and weight.

Comments about Marmot Trestles +15 Sleeping Bag:
I purchased this bag with the expectation that I would be sleeping outside (without a tent) for four nights in weather below freezing on the Mt. Whitney trail. With the Marmot Trestles +15 bag I slept great, stayed warm, and got to see the stars on clear nights.
Although the wind picked up to around 20 miles per hour, I did not feel a bit of cold. My only advice if you like to sleep outside is wear a face mask.
I did have a user malfunction. One of the side zippers split open when I placed my elbow on it. Although this happened at 3 a.m., it only took a few minutes to repair my mistake.
Great Bag, Great Experience, Great Price.

This is a very warm, lightweight bag that is everything a 3-season bag should be. I'm a happy dude!
