Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

I can't exactly give a very well rounded review of this performance of this tent because I didn't have it long enough to test it in the field. I was in the market for a decent 2 person tent and this really met all of my specs until it arrived in the mail and I was able to set it up. Perhaps my folly for not checking it out in person, but the major drawback for me was that the only door on this 2 person tent was on one side rather than at either end. A side door is no problem if there's one adjacent to it, but such was not the case with this tent meaning that when hosting one person would be essentially locked in for the night. That was enough for me to bring it on back to REI where I ultimately swapped it out for the Half Dome 2 Plus. A bit roomier for a big guy like me (6'4" was a bit much for the Limelight) and had doors on both sides giving all occupants the freedom to come and go without waking their tentmates mid slumber. Could be a great tent otherwise, but the single side door was a deal-breaker for me.
            Just my two coppers...

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

Went on a week long backpacking trip to Big Bend in Feb and used this tent for overnight trails. My boyfirend purchased it so I purchased mine as soon as we returned. The tent was easy to attached to the top of my bag and didn't add as much weight as expected. Me and another person slept in the tent comfortably (I am 5'3" and 130 lbs he is 5'9" and about 170 lbs). One night the temp dropped below freezing and we didn't even know until getting out of the tent and discovering all our water frozen. It was quick and easy to set up and pull down. with the ventialtion I am expecting it to work well during our trips this summer.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

Needed a tent for backpacking with my son in Scouts. Considered Kelty Salida 2 and REI Half Dome, but chose the Limelight because I preferred it's design and the fact that the floor is included in the price. I use it as a tent for one, so the single door isn't an issue. If you need room for two, I'd suggest the Limelight 3.

It's really easy to set up. Fly is nice and taut so wind doesn't phase it. Marmot supplied 11 stakes for the tent and guy lines (I only use 6). This is a three season tent and the ventilation keeps it cool in warm weather. It's not designed to keep you warm in winter conditions.

Quality is very nice. I especially like the two prong clips that attach the tent to the poles. They look like they'll last as they're sewn across a longer piece of fabric than in other tents.

Only wish is for shorter pole sections to make it more compact for packing.

                Highly Recommended!

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

I lived in this tent for 5 1/2 months while working on a trail crew in the Stanislaus National Forest in CA. That's right, LIVED in it! It endured rain, sun, wind, and snow, and never failed me. The only water that ever got into the tent was from underneath, and that was my fault in the set up. It can get a little chilly, but with a good sleeping bag the ventilation is totally worth it. This puppy is my ol' faithful and still has many trips of use in it.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

Started backpacking with my son who's in the Boy Scouts. Looked at Salida 2 and Half Dome 2 but chose the Marmot. All three are worthy, I just preferred the Limelight's design. Really easy to set up with the two pole design. Fly goes on really taut and the low profile doesn't move in wind. Very good ventilation with no condensation. Stays cool in hot weather, but it's not very warm in colder weather (that's why it's a three season tent!). Don't mind the single door/vestibule as it's just me. If I knew I were using it more as a two man, I'd probably get a three person tent. Love that the normally extra cost floor is included in the price, plus the 11 aluminum stakes. Wish the poles were shorter when folded for easier packing. Otherwise, well made tent at a nice price, highly recommended!

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

My husband and I used this tent camping in Patagonia, which threw pretty much everything at it - rain, sleet, and WIND. It was a cinch to set up at the end of every day and withstood some pretty incredible winds. But, even with really warm sleeping bags and mats, we froze our butts off at night because there is just too much ventilation. The entry zip should be reversed, as others have noted. Also, there wasn't enough room for both of our bags inside the tent.

Faily good design for the money. Easy to set up. Access door should be flipped so door is easier to open and enter.Vestibule restricts access. Rain fly should be closer to ground. Tent should have screened area higher from the ground. Dust and rain can blow in. Kept us dry in heavy rains in Hawaii.

Just got the tent and set it up. It does not come with instructions. It was easy to set up but would have been nice to have just a one pager for the first set up. I found a YouTube video that helped. While technically this is a two person tent...it is just barely... particularly if you are over 6 ft tall like myself. You would be really be hard pressed to sleep 2 ppl in here with your backpacks inside. At least one pack would have to be in the vestibule and likely both if they would even fit. I see this as a more practical one person backpacking tent. For a single it would be very spacious. I took a few pics of the tent below. One sleeping bag rolled out and 1 backpack (not packed). It gives you an idea of the space. Again, this doesn't take into consideration the vestibule space. It is a light tent so it's a trade off. Less space for less weight...which is ok with me.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent:

I use this tent for four season camping in the Appalachians, Great Plains, and several beach locations. Best bang for your buck. They fly is adjustable and great for wind, rain, and snow. The little features such as the mesh storage units and the vestibule become extremely useful and change from comforts to necessities. The fly does insulate the tent very well and heats up very quickly. This becomes frustrating on a hot rainy day.
