I needed a new replacement gym bag but wanted one that wasn't bulky but could still handle the normal "load." I took a chance on this one and haven't been more pleased. The main compartment (2 zippers) has enough space to fit women's size 9 gym shoes, gym clothes, towel, gloves, and shower supplies (I found I could substitute shower supplies for an extra pair of pants and shirt). The outer zip pocket isn't very spacious, but it has 2 felt-lined sleeves for things like phones or MP3 players (I generaly put toiletries in them). The pocket is fairly flat, so only expect to put low-profile items in there. It does include a built-in hook and strap for a set of keys. On the opposite side of the bag is a double-flap that connects with an adjustable snap closure for items such as towels and yoga mats (r anything else you can imagine rolling up, maybe even jackets). Yoga mats are ideal for this side, but I've rolled up towels and everything has been very secure. Near the top of the bag by the main compartment zipper is a small zipper storage for small items such as hair ties, keys, and ear buds or even just MP3 player and ear buds (again, low profile items, space is very very small). On one end of the bag is a beverage/bottle holder. This bad boy will fit nearly any size bottle you can think of. I've put full size Gatorade bottles in there and a water bottle that is over 4 inches in diameter. The bottle is held in by the shoulder strap (when you wear the bag, the strap puts pressure against the bottle). On the other side of the bag is a zipper compartment for a water resistant sack inside the main compartment. This is meant for wet or dirty items so you don't contaminate anything else you have in the main compartment. Very handy for swimmers! Lastly, the soulder strap has a padded shoulder rest and is VERY ergonomic for women. I have large hips and always found that generic gym bags bounced off my hip or collided with my hands and just generally seemed bulky. This one is designed to stay out of your way.

Overall, I was extremely surprised at how happy I was with this bag. I didn't expect it to be as light weight, durable, and ergonomic as it is. It isn't very spacious so it wouldn't have much use other than a basic gym or yoga bag (no traveling unless you are thinking carryon bag for basics and essentials). If you require bulky items or pack a lot of stuff along, you might look elsewhere. If you're like me and like basic amounts of gear for gym visits, I highly recommend this bag!!

When I received the bag my initial thought was it was really small. Once you would put your gym shoes in the side, there wouldn't be much room left. But the bag is stylish and would be easy to carry when full. I think it would be a great gift. But it is a little expensive for me to keep for myself since I was looking for a little bigger bag.

I use this as my gym bag and love all the features (most gym bags are just one big opening with no pockets). The ability to strap my yoga mat onto the bag is genius. The face that it is made of mostly recycled materials is an added bonus.

This is a great bag! I mostly use it for rehearsal and dance class. I love pretty much everything about it - just wish the shoe pocket was an external mesh pocket instead (I rarely use it now b/c it takes up space in the main pocket and is more work to get my shoes into). That's really the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Just a warning, it is on the small side, so aside from using it as a gym bag, it probably wouldn't be good for more than an overnight stay, though I did use it as my carry-on for a flight to LA. Love the Yoga mat holder - works great for holding a small pillow, a sandwich, or anything you may want quick easy access to (haven't tried a book yet, but I bet that'd work too) ;) The water bottle pocket is great too.
