Comments about Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Men's:
I am currently travelling in the Middle East, and this shirt is perfect.Very breathable and light for the hot climate, yet keeps me covered from the sun or for when I visit a religious site. It washes easily in a hotel sink and dries quickly.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Men's:
I like lightweight long sleeve shirts with the straps to hold rolled up sleeves. But the ones I had are not good for anything but hiking. This one I felt comfortable wearing into restaurants and my wife thought it looked good.
The "map pocket" is a zipper pocket on the left side that held my cell phone in a very comfortable position without a bulging pocket. I am used to a left hand open shirt pocket rather than on the right, but I got used to it! Excellent shirt.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Men's:
I've 6 of these in different colors and s/s and l/s. It's a great shirt for hiking/backpacking. Also for casual everyday wear. Very comfortable, well ventilated and dries very fast. Durability is excellent.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Men's:
This is one of several shirts I bought especially for hiking in warm or hot weather when I can expect to sweat a lot. It's fine for the purpose, wicks moisture well, and dries quickly (including after I wash it). It has started to pill a little but that's to be expected from polyester and doesn't particularly bother me.
The thing I dislike most about it is the "map pocket". It opens sideways so I can't really trust it to hold a pencil or pen, and any paper I carry in it had better be waterproof or it'll get soggy. Nice try, though -- it was this shirt that inspired me to start carrying maps and other paper in a zippered pouch clipped to my pack straps.
If this were my only hiking shirt I'd get by just fine and still prefer it to cotton. Right now it's the one I stuff in the bottom of the bag in case I run out of other shirts. For the same kinds of use I prefer the REI Sahara and especially the Merell Kalamatan.
