Oh. My. Good. Ness. First off I’d like to say that I didn’t pay for extra shipping and they still got here in two days. TWO DAYS. I can’t say anything for how well they hold up on the trail because I just put them on for the first time but the fit is amazing so I had to review it already. I’m 6’ tall so I got size 6 Talls. They fit perfectly and there’s even extra length at the bottom which I think all tall ladies secretly love. I can’t wait to go hiking in these. I’ve been searching high and low for a long enough pair of hiking pants and I was hesitant to spend the $90 for these but I have zero regrets. Love them.
I teach outdoor education and am an avid hiker, climber, and backpacker. I love Prana and I love the quality of the clothes they make. These pants are no exception with excellent stretch, durability, and soft, comfortable material. Unfortunately, Prana has fallen into the disappointingly stereotypical trap of making insufficient pockets for a pair of women's pants. I wish I could wear these all the time, but if you are a serious hiker (especially backpackers) or climber these pockets are virtually useless; the tiny front pockets can't even hold my small folding benchmade pocket knife, and not one pocket can hold my phone. If Prana wants to serve their female outdoor community in a conscientious way- they should really reconsider the design of their most highly recommended hiking pant. Again, I love the material, the fit, and the look- but I can not in good conscience give this pant 5 stars when the technical aspects of the pants are so sorely lacking. If I can't fit anything useful in the pockets, the point of having pockets is lost on me. I hope somebody at Prana reads this review, because if this problem is solved I would buy my hiking pants exclusively from Prana.
I love Prana pants and have always worn them for climbing. Generally, they incredibly long despite the abuse. The decorate stitching on the backside of the Halle Prana pants, is delicate, and as it turns out, not purely decorative. On the center of the backside, right where my backside touches the ground when I sit down, the stitching abraded off. This stitching is what closes the pocket on the inside and now both of my pockets had holes so that stuff inside of the pockets could fall out into the inside of my pants. Very disappointed as sitting on rocks is what I consider "normal use" for Prana pants. This failure happened in the first six months of use.
These pants are wonderful- I bought two pairs of them last year to wear while traveling for 2 months. The pants are great for hiking or lounging. Very comfortable and flattering. Be sure to try them on in the store, for whatever reason (maybe they've fixed it since I bought my pants) the pants run in different sizes- I wear a size 6 in the grey and a size 4 in the green. Pants are breathable, seem stain-resistant, were water resistant when I bought them, but after 14 months they could be waterproofed again. All snaps are still intact, have held up well against scrambling and hiking.
I bought two new pairs of prana hiking pants for a month-long archaeological field school and a week-and-a-half backpacking trip in Scotland, I've always had REI zip-offs but wanted something that rolled up the leg rather than zipped. I love the rolled up feature and the pants fit perfectly, looked great, were made of quite durable stuff that stretched for easy movement and, most importantly, dried extremely quickly even when soaked through with water and sweat. The only cons were that lack of leg pockets; the small thigh pocket is really too small to put anything in and is at an odd angle, so I would have wanted a larger cargo pocket on the leg. Both buttons on both my pairs had fallen off by the time I was through with my hiking trip, so that's a con, but can be easily reinforced with some stronger thread at home. With or without buttons, however, the belt tie string is really not sturdy enough to keep up the pants when doing long periods of strenuous hiking. I will be buying a hiking belt for them in the future. Overall, they're a great fit which makes them a good purchase but you might have to make little modifications for longer periods of activity.
These pants rock. I wore them nearly every day for four months across South America. During one trekking stint there, I wore them 8 days straight, and didn't wash them for two weeks! They were awesome every second. I now own two pairs, my mom owns three, and my sister has a pair too. We all love them. Now I use them to bike to work. The quick roll-up leg is great for transitioning from bike to work. They are great looking (professional enough for work) and very comfortable and stretchy (my go-to for hiking). The internal waist tie is helpful if you happen to slim down a bit, or after days and days of wear that can lend a bit to stretchout.
So i arrived into Tanzania for my Mt. Kilimanjaro summit trip in February, and my checked bag wasn't to be found anywhere, as it was "lost" somewhere between Chicago and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Thankfully I was joining a random group of 4 awesome female travelers that were happy to share some extra clothing with me, and these pants were probably the most used and loved! I now know i'm a women's size 6 and I have to say, these were really darn comfortable!!! I was happy to put these on for the first 4 days up the mountain until my bag was found and expedited up the mountain to meet me. Yes, I needed my cold weather gear to go further up the mountain, but these really got me through to that point! Huge thanks to Katie (who's pants these were and is the photo), Tara, Jen, and Calah, these really comfy pants, and some great stories wearing their clothing on the way up to the summit!!! Awesome trip (and pants)!!! Just buy em, even you guys out there;)!
I wore my pants yesterday for the first time. I don't know if my rating will be different after couple of uses, but today I am rating based on my first experience. They are really comfortable and flattering. I am 5'4'' and the length was perfect for me with my hiking boots. It is also difficult for me to find a pant that fits my figure well (curvy) and these were perfect, so I recommend them to anyone with an hourglass/pear body type. I am normally a size 10 and it was true to the size. They dry really fast and give me freedom to move. I wish they came in more colors, but other than that they are perfect for me. I love them.
I'm almost 6'2" and a size 4. It's nearly impossible to find outdoor gear that go past my ankles or wrists. I needed a durable pair of outdoor pants for climbing, hiking, goofing around in the snow (not for snow sports), etc. The first time I put these on I was amazed! They were long enough that they even crinkled a bit on the floor, just how I like them! Great stretch and durability. Go prAna!! Now we need more outdoor gear for tall chicks! Contrary to what other brands think, a 32" inseam is NOT tall!! I'm a 35" and so far prAna is the only brand that makes a true "tall" pant, and I've searched!!! North Face & Burton are a close second but not quite long enough.
I believe that these pants are worthy of a review. I am 5'1 and about 117 lbs and wear a size 2. The 29'' inseam was a perfect length and the pants are very flattering. I took them on a camping trip to the Shenandoah National Park this past weekend and I must say that these pants performed admirably. We hiked about 6 miles on the AT before the kids had reached their limit and I was able to charge some pretty steep trails to without any restriction from these pants. We were caught in summer rain storm and I stayed dry thanks to these pants. They kept me dry and breathed well despite the humidity and climbing temperatures. I highly recommend these pants.
